Hello, I am posting in regards to my newly acquired 3080 FTW3. I ordered this product on the 27th of October per my notification arriving for me to purchase it. Upon receiving the card, I removed my EVGA 1080ti FTW3, uninstalled all related drivers, installed the new 3080 FTW3, installed new drivers as well as Precision X1, performed it's update, and began testing in games. At the SAME settings in two different games (Escape from Tarkov and COD MW Warzone) I am experiencing horrible lag spikes, frame drops, and even game locking to the point that the games threaten to crash to the desktop. I am seeing perhaps 10 more FPS than normal in these games compared to me 1080ti, however, the 1080ti performed smoothy and without issues as severe as this. I am even noticing screen tearing while scrolling through browser pages; something I never experienced with the 1080ti that came before this card. It's almost as if the card is functioning at 40% of it's capacity. I am currently running at 1440p at 144mhz. All official drivers have been updated. Power Delivery to the card is routed via 3 independent cables manufactured by the OE PSU manufacturer. I am hoping that this is a driver situation, however, this is very disheartening after waiting for a month after a failed launch to purchase this card, only to feel like money would have been spent better elsewhere. Reviews for this card have shown insanely high performance, however, forums and threads are littered with extremely similar cases like mine and most revolve around the FTW3 version of the 3080. Which I hate to say because I have always been an EVGA consumer in terms of Video Cards. Absolutely any help or input would be greatly appreciated as I would love to see this card shine as it's meant to. System Specs below. I am also including furmark scores (My score is obviously the Ryzen 3900x @ 1440p - Compared to the same card on an Intel setup and a 1080ti + Ryzen 3600x) : As you can see a less power GPU and a less power CPU at the same resolution produces a better score than my 3080 + 3900x which is absolutely disappointing. CPU : Ryzen 3900x @ Stock Motherboard : ASUS Crosshair Hero x570 RAM : 16GB DDR4 G.Skill Tridentz @ 3000mhz Video : EVGA 3080 FTW3 PSU : Corsair HX750 Edit : I updated the details on the power cabling to the PSU - I initially thought I was running two cables from the PSU to the card with one cable Y'ing and the other dedicated. However upon double checking, the GPU is receiving power in from 3 independent cables from the PSU. Edit 2 : I checked and ensured that all is set to the appropriate 144mhz between monitor, adapter settings, and control panel. Also confirmed no issues in device manager as well as confirmed Driver Version. Since starting this post I have DDU'd the drivers and reinstalled them - screen tearing seems to have gone away but overall benchmark results are still terribly low. Edit 3 : Perfcap Reasons in GPU-Z show normal Vrel and Pwr reasons. If I decrease the power limit target, scores and performance lower, of course. If I increase this, I see increased results, but not to the degree they should be. Changing power target up or down does not affect system stability during software testing or gaming ; simple the same issues I originally posted in regards to. Edit 4 ( Assumed Resolution) : So I manually uninstalled drivers via add/remove programs, downloaded the 457.09 driver directly via Nvidias website opposed to GeForce Experience, rebooted into safe mode, ran DDU, allowed it to reboot into normal mode, and installed the driver package including GeForce Experience. Quick test in furmark results in a score of 11276 in 1440p default (This is almost exactly double the result I was seeing in Furmark before hand with a score of 5739 in 1440p default) at all default power/clock settings. Things feel buttery smooth and I will be testing in games shortly. My first DDU run was done in safe mode but I had NOT manually removed the Nvidia software/driver packages from Add/Remove programs the first time. So it seems like DDU missed a step or something that manually removing the packages via Add/Remove Programs will do? I'm not sure. I don't know how DDU performs those functions but that's what it took me doing to resolve the issue. A test in COD MW - Warzone results in this : BEFORE Resolution - Warzone hovering around 115fps, stuttering, felt very off. Overall GPU felt like it was running at a severe throttle.AFTER Resolution - Warzone is buttery smooth, hanging around 190+ FPS. Feels extremely crisp.Furmark Score DoubledNo more screen tearing in windowsIf your 3080 is running sluggish and you've done things by the book, I hope you find this thread. Because it seems like either adding that one little step of manually removing the drivers before DDU....or running DDU twice and installing the drivers through the driver package instead of GeForce Experience may be the resolution for this one.Edit 5 : Card is currently performing horribly in multiple titles which makes them nearly unplayable, but extremely well in others. Edit 6 : Wiped NVME C drive and reinstalled windows. Installed only Chipset, Audio, and Graphics Drivers. Installed Fortnite to test because the issues with it are the easiest to duplicate - EXACT same issues. So no, reinstalling windows does not resolve the problem.

Do you have any way to measure your total system power draw?
The 1080ti didn’t need much power compared to a 3080 and GPU-z is already showing you are pulling more power (380w) than the GPU specs show (350w) and you are getting a power limited pericarp reason. If you have any overclock at all on the GPU, or the power target turned up, I would say turn it down. GPUBoost 4.0 may be causing you to hit the limits of your power supply.

Sadly I do not have a physical monitor, but should be something I can pick up fairly easy. Even reducing the power limit to 50% I'm stilling seeing a perfcap reason. Looks like, from various reports, furmark is bad for this so I'm going to run this again with Heaven and see what the results are. It'd be insane to think that running the recommended PSU wattage would result in worse results than a 1080ti, personally. So are we trying to lean towards needing a 1k watt power supply in order to run these cards? But assuming this is right and power settings to default and even turned down, I'm still seeing well over 380w draw under load with Heaven running. Only this time I get vrel+pwer perfcap reasons which according to various sources is normal? IE : Perfcap Pwr simply means that the card is running at it's targeted power cap. Unsure on this. But as things sit all settings are at out of the box defaults.

Screen tearing in normal Windows almost feels like the driver didn't fully install or the OS didn't initialize the driver. Check your device manager and see if there is an issue with the video card. I also experienced some weird tearing because my monitor was set for 100hz but in the nvidia control panel was 60hz but I think that was only in games. Of those check out and still have same problem, use DDU uninstall all drivers then do a fresh install.

Yes it seems so! I had figured since I already did the DDU run that it wasn't worth doing it again, albeit a little differently. But if you hadn't have said "Screen tearing in windows sounds like the driver didn't take" I would have never tried it again. But I just tested out Warzone and went from stuttering at 115FPS to buttery smooth 190+ FPS solid. Hopefully if anyone else is having this issue they come across this!

Thats interesting. I personally use Revo Uninstaller. So I use that to uninstall first, before using DDU, when ever I had to use DDU.

Updating this :
So I've been gaming today - Ran Escape from Tarkov, COD MW, Apex Legends, and Fortnite (lol raytracing right?)
EFT, COD, and Apex seemed to run smoothly and delivered good FPS.
Fortnite, on the other hand, runs like garbage. Frame drop to 5 and then back to normal every 10 seconds. I had to turn graphics down to medium, DLSS off, Raytracing off, and disable Gsync just to make the game playable.
That being said, if any game is running for longer than an hour at a time, I have to restart the game because everything starts feeling very chuggy. Frames "appear" to be there, but we go right back to feeling like drivers are not installed properly and the system is running off of basic windows options. Once the game is closed everything immediately returns to normal. GPU temps are normal and have not spiked and even watching X1, clocks seem to remain where they should be.
Really hoping we get some good driver updates soon because this is pretty yikes and extremely frustrating. As it stands and until things are resolved and smoothed out, I really can't recommend anyone pick up a 30 series card. In fact I wish I would have waited to purchase mine at this point.

Do you have another computer you can test it in? Maybe a friend's rig?

No, not exactly. However I >can< just slap the 1080ti back in and everything runs buttery smooth. But the minute the 3080 goes in - back to this odd performance. Runs great for a while in games, slowly falls off. Fortnite = nearly unplayable.
Alternate video card = perfect performance. And sadly with as many issues as I'm seeing being reported I'm just going to have to chalk this up to current drivers being flunky.

Performance has continued to degrade. COD MW is now unplayable. No settings changed. GPU at 95% power. CPU is fine. Load temperatures around 65*c - 67*c. All settings at low.
I am on the verge of either reselling or returning this card at this point as I am now back to using my 1080ti which is performing many times better than the 3080 with zero dropped frames and zero stutters.
This is absolutely atrocious.

everything adds up to ur power supply needs to be replaced. but for starters, ur rebranded Corsair HX750 Manufacturer (OEM) is "Channel Well Technology" and NOT Seasonic. So, shop around and get an 850 watt Seasonic PSU. There are three things to remember about a PSUs and they are Seasonic! Seasonic! and Seasonic! OR get a PSU that IS an 850 watt rebranded Seasonic. There is nothing wrong with Corsair branded PSUs. However any brand PSU can fail. If your OEM PSU is still under warranty then seek a replacement. I am using an HX850 Corsair PSU and it has never failed me. I am running an RTX 3090 FTW3 Ultra at present.

I would agree that Corsair branded PSUs are known to be good quality. The main thing when it comes to a PSU is to buy a quality name brand with a reliable reputation. When you buy a major name brand known for quality you know that the parts inside are going to be good for the basic function of the regulation of power as well as fact you know when it has a 10 year warranty that in ten years the company will still be around.

ur right. sry! i didn't mean to suggest that there was anything wrong with Corsair branded PSUs. (i do prefer when they are rebranded Seasonic too. that's all i meant to say originally... again sry... i ain't no poet and i know it. lol and like i LUV my CORSAIR CMPSU-620HX PSU which has ran flawlessly non-stop for over ten years straight in my HTPC. BUT it is a Seasonic, and it is the PSU that got Corsair famous for PSUs... BUT OMG i digressed so bad... lol... sry) back on topic: i failed to properly focus on the 750 watts not being enough for 3090; but it IS plenty enough for a 1080-ti. So, an 850 watt PSU should be best route to take to solve probem FateAstray is having. Edit: just noticed this is NOT a 3090 and FateAstray has a 3080. i got confused reading so many 3090 posts of ppl having problems yesterday with 3090's and reading FateAstray's thread again 2day. So the proper prognosis would MAYBE be FateAstray's PSU. AND also Drivers like he already suggested; plus the infamous combination of OS files and game files. And in situations like just mentioned, hopefully testing the new 3080 in another rig is possible.

and wat are the two best hardware companies at telephone support? EVGA and Corsiar. (EVGA is the best all time at it.) Seasonic makes the best PSUs but they have no phone support. So, a Seasonic PSU that is rebranded Corsair is a very wise choice if a great price comes around. And an EVGA PSU is a great choice if they have a great price pop-up. As far as reviews go, u always start at JonnyGuru dot com.

So as much as I absolutely hate the idea that these GPUs may be so inefficient that not only do we have to sign up for a queue to get the card in the first place, but we also have to likely upgrade from a 750w power supply to something larger just to be able to run games at stock clock speeds, I ordered a replacement 850w PSU that has been listed as a "known working PSU for 3080's." This will bring the total of upgrading to this card well over $1000 which would, in turn, make purchasing a 6900XT much more financially efficient. Doesn't bode well for the 3080 if you ask me.
That being said, I'll test with the new PSU when it gets here but it's highly unlikely that it's going to make a difference in my honest opinion. I'll update with results once it arrives.

https://www.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comments/jkf2hn/me_and_another_user_discovered_a_fix_for_the/ Try this for Warzone for the stuttering. I actually got one on launch day but it performed so poorly in Warzone I sold it and bought a 2070S until they sorted the issues and entered the Step Up because that is the only game I play right now. I also found on the latest drivers that the frame continue to slowly drop if you have shadow play recording in the back round but if you turn it off it is fine. I was down to 10fps at one point. I highly doubt this is a PSU issue unless you're daisy chaining your 8 pins.

Try this for Warzone for the stuttering.
I'll give this a try now, actually. As for the PSU - Each plug is dedicated. There are no Y connectors going to the card.

Time to chime in. Have the same issues with my 3080 FTW Ultra. I also have a brand new 850 Watt PSU from Corsair. All connectors to the card are single cables. My performance is worse than my EVGA 1070ti for goodness sake. It is the EXACT same issues as OP. I'm playing maybe 3/4 games at the moment where I require the best performance: Apex Legends - Stuttery, sluggish mess. Feels sluggish even though my frames are high, as well as frequent stutters. Just doesn't feel like what the frames are displaying (140-299 depending on area). No issues with my 1070ti. Raising texture budget to high over low (what I normally play) makes a little difference but that might be placebo. I could achieve 140-230 or so FPS with my 1070ti which was butter smooth). Warzone - 100-120 FPS. Feels fine but it really should be doing more, considering I was 120 -130 with my 1070. Valorant - Went from 280 FPS from the previous card, to currently 100-120 FPS. NOT acceptable. CSGO - Fluctuating FPS ranging from 160-240 or so. Still, my 1070 was outputting easily 200+ at all times. I am praying to god that it's my processor, absolutely praying. I have ordered a new MOBO and CPU (x570 & AMD 5900x, currently 2700x and x470) which hopefully should have by Tuesday. If this doesn't miraculously improve everything - I am so p*ssed off.

I want to follow up on this one. Apex Legends : I have frames locked at 125 in order to monitor them. It consistently shows 125 FPS but the game FEELS as if it's running at half of that. Warzone - Game feels good at first but over the course of an hour + of gameplay, game begins stuttering and chugging and requires a restart. Much like a memory leak does. However even when it is running 'good' it's underperforming only delivering about 30fps more than my 1080ti. Fortnite - This game is frustrating. I have it set to 144fps. The game runs 144, DROPS to 54 for a split second, then back up to 144. It does this CONSTANTLY. Every 5 seconds it drops to 54fps and then right back to 144fps. This is an obvious stutter or fall off from the card and it is VERY frustrating. Overwatch - Ironically enough, this game runs PERFECTLY. As I said before I have ordered a new PSU which is listed as a working PSU in the megathread (which is asinine in itself.) Hoping it arrives quickly. If it does not resolve the issue or EVGA Devs do not get involved in this, I am moving away from EVGA products from this point on and returning the card. I'm watching others with 3080's enjoy their games and run them perfectly reporting high performance. Meanwhile I can't even game, muchless stream, which is my passion after spending over $900 on a GPU after tax and shipping. It's very disgusting and disheartening. I have removed the card again and gone back to my 1080ti which is, once more, running absolutely flawlessly.

I can’t even play Fortnite with DX12 turned on it crashed to desktop every 15-30min and that also was happening on the 2070S I borrowed from my BF to test out my build. When I play in DX11 it’s quite stable but doesn’t take advantage of RTX. I’m running an i9 10850 and 32Gb ram with a brand new 850w Corsair PSU and 3 individual OEM cables to my 3080 FTW3U.

Just checked my GPU utilisation in Valorant = 7%... SEVEN PERCENT. Also just checked the PSU thread and my RM850x from Corsair is listed as a working PSU. I have just tried everything suggested above that may work: Used Revo uninstaller and removed all my Nvidia stuff - including the Nvidia control panel via MS Store. Also for good measure uninstalled my AMD Chipset drivers as well. Went into Safe Mode and ran DDU. restarted and installed NVIDIA Driver package. Installed the latest AMD Chipset drivers for my CPU. Load up Valorant - 7% GPU utilisation and 100 FPS. Unbelievable. Played Apex earlier with a friend. Asked how his performance was with his 2080ti. 240+ FPS constant and no hitching, stuttering whatsoever. The parts he was at 200+ FPS, I was at 160.

Thanks for the update. I REALLY feel like either there is something physically wrong with these cards, or the Drivers are absolutely trash for them.

Is there anybody having blazing performance with them? I am curious to see if it is everybody with these cards. I have the 'EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 FTW3 Ultra'

I am going to mebti that Warzone sucks ass on AMD CPUs. You're prettying much CPU,limited because this game doesn't know how to use AMD CPU.
Although I have a 3080, it runs no different than my old 2080 Ti when comes to warzone. Trust me, Warzone is bonkers when it comes to warzone, even the Zen 3 CPU are having issues.

I am not even playing Warzone. For me, Warzone actually runs the best (albeit still poor frame rate).

That's not accurate. So far people are blaming the issues on PSUs or CPUs. But what the point that everyone is missing is that WITH a 3080 series cards these games run like absolute garbage. The minute you switch to another card they run pristine. My 3900x hasn't had a single issue with ANY game I've thrown at it. My problems arose the moment I installed this card. And even though I know I have adequate power, I am still going to try a PSU as a last ditch effort before either returning the card or reselling it to jump on the 6800xt bandwagon. This entire launch has been botched, so defending the card because it's causing issues is a bit absurd when thousands of people are reporting similar issues. So can we please stop blaming the issues on PSUs and CPUs and focus the blame on the GPU as it should be?
