Bad 3080 or weak MOBO?

I have a 3080 that's been unstable for me.  I keep getting crashes in games, particularly in intense parts of the game.  I tried underclocking and undervolting, didn't work.  I have an older MOBO, MSI Z170 gaming M7.  Being older, from 2016 so I don't know if it has enough power.  I have an 850w quality supply.  I swapped power supplies also so I can rule that out.  Should I try to swap this card with a buddy to try?

    Solved: I put in some high quality power cables for the card and it works now.  I had the EVGA ribbon style cables in with the pigtails loose facing the PSU unit so I'm not sure if that caused the failure or if the cables are just poor quality.
