Hi. I would like to know if my: 750W G2 80+ Gold Full Modular Power SupplyeVGA 220-G2-0750-XR will be enough to run the RTX3080 Graphics Card. I am also running:Intel 19 9900k CPU Corsair Hydro Series H150i PRO (AIO Water Cooling) 1XM.2 NVME SSD 1XSSD Hybrid 1X7200rpm SATA One LED MSI Light. Currently running an RTX2080 without any issues whatsoever with all of the above. Do you think I will be ok just swapping out the RTX2080 for the RTX3080? ___________________ If not, I think I will pass on the upgrade and wait. Cheers.

Recommended PSU is 750w. With a (very) good PSU some people manage to get it working with a 650w (but I wouldn't recommend it).
Just make sure it's a good real brand and not a Chinese knockoff or anything like that. The best way would be to tell us the brand, the model and the power.

Sorry guys I updated it. I did put in the power supply but for some reason the editor will not display it if I hyper link the address over it. My apologies. At any rate I have updated it. I understand 750Watts is the rated ... but I don't beleive that is the full story when running water cooling, high end cpu and a number of other things. I am more interested in talking about that. Was just curious not only about the Rated 750w number but also about my system specs on top of that. I think PC Parts Picker might be another place to try as well. All good. Thx. My Bad. ;)

Ok now it's better :p Yeah a 750w 80+Gold should be more than enough. Systems with a 10900k + 3080 seems to pull 500 / 550w so that's why a 650w can be short if bad quality, a 750w shouldn't have issues especially an EVGA one and especially with a 80+ Gold rating.

That's great news. Ty for your response. Just wanted to see what others thought and I'm feeling better already. Having to upgrade just makes the card more expensive. So glad I Chose that power supply now.

It was a good pick. I have seen some people try to cut corners on cheap power supplies in system builds and it's not worth it if you ask me. Power issues can cause serious problems so I always go for well known brands that are trusted.

Yeah you can be glad ! My first PSU was a no-name brand because I didn't know better at that time. It lasted about 3 or 4 years. I was lucky that it managed to power the system that long and also that in its demise it didn't put other components to death too. The PSU just wouldn't start, I knew it was the PSU because I had another spare PSU. I went for a Corsair since then, 3 years and counting but I'm not afraid because of the 10 year warranty behind the PSU I feel rock-steady. Though considering all the trouble Corsair iCue gave me (it broke my 150€ keyboard because of a firmware update) next PSU I'll get probably will be another brand, like EVGA.

At the time I purchased my power supply I bought all the other parts in one go. I spent thousands and during my research found out how important a quality power supply was. I was just worried after recently researching and hearing that even for most up to date gamers, that the RTX3090 will require un upgrade not only for the power requirements but mostly for the new 12 pin connector. I know you can get connectors - BUT - like the power supply I don't mess around cutting corners with those unless I know I have the quality power and then ensure 100% that I am suing separate cables. Two from the power supply into the one 12pin. (is that what we have to do with the RTX3080?) Warning bells went off for me as this time I don't want to spend thousands again. If I have to upgrade power supply I would have to spend a small fortune on another high quality power supply because I fully agree it's often over looked and in many cases the weak link in the chain. Very glad indeed that I and many other users will be able to fully utilize the RTX3080. I think that will equal the playing field and so it should. :) _______________________ All that said, I'm looking to build a lower end system as a dedicated streaming/YOUTUBE Gaming RECORDING PC as my high end gaming rig needs everything it's got for MSFS2020. I'll make a post soon enough about that. I'll most likely buy the same power supply for that. : )

It's not just the brand that matters, they all make excellent, good, and then crap units. It's the actual model of PSU that really matters. But yes the EVGA G2 is an excellent unit, as are the P2 and T2.... Have been seeing issues with those who have the GA's however, at least 4 or 5 so far..... Switching PSU models solved the issues...

Firmware updates don't break a keyboard... ;) Contact Corsair and they will tell you how to reset the firmware and download it again. I had to do that with one of mine, wasn't a problem, only took a few mins.

Well, I can tell you that issues happened just after the firmware and the software (iCue) was updated, so something did happen sadly. As for customer support, I did. We did everything we could, changing software version, firmware version, tested on other computers, etc. Nothing worked, the only option was an RMA, which wasn't an option anymore since the warranty expired. When you look on the forums sadly I'm not the only one to have suffered this, sometimes like you people are able to restore a fully functional keyboard, other times... It just doesn't work. That's life, nothing's perfect. I have other products from them (PSU, ram, headset, I had one case, and a H100i v2 or something like that) and the only thing I can tell you for sure : they have a (very) good hardware quality, but man I swear, their software quality is aweful ! I'm afraid to update my iCue knowing that I use the software for my PSU and headset settings, in case something goes wrong. That's why since then, I don't appreciate being dependant on a software who needs to run on background. CoolerMaster's keyboard (the one I have now) software doesn't need to run for profiles to work or anything, you can just use it to modify profiles colors and stuff then turn it off, profiles will still work. But even better, you can customize colors with keyboard shortcuts without needing any software (though the software has more options and is faster).

I'm running a 10700k (10th gen version of your CPU) and a 3080FTW3 Ultra on an EVGA 750w T2 PSU. No issues. The FTW 3 pulls 380w peak at the stock power target and the CPU is pulling another ~150w (not overclocked). Add in fans, drives, etc. and you're probablyt looking around 550-600w total, give or take. There might be a question about PSU efficiency at ~75-80% of the rated power on some power supplies and if the PSU will run with a low/zero fan speed but I think it should work fine with the 750w G2. Worst-case, you can always back off the power target on the 3080 card to put your total system power into the target range.

The calculator says my wattage under full load with a 3080 would be 530 watts. My EVGA Supernova 750W should be able to handle that. That’s 200+ watts overhead.

you should adjust the 3080 boost mhz to 2000 or so since they boost to around that. Also if you're running your cpu oc it should have your vcore setting.

Yeah doing all that it goes up to 600 watts. Still 150 watts overhead. Should be ok. Guess I'll find out when I can get a card.

The 3080 FTW3 ULTRA are using 400W alone (even though they are spec'ed for higher). I wouldn't believe that calculator. Also, it's best to not run your PSU at load 100%. I bought a 1000W a few years ago and everyone told me I was crazy, wish I would have bought a 1200W or above based on the usage of the 3080s. The OP should be fine unless they're OC'ing their i9-9900K. OCing is too variable and it's anyone's best guess.
