No chance of a cheaper card then when Ampere lands. Get ready for price rises.

When there is a short supply retailers will hike the prices. That is typical in this type of business genre.

Betcha SONY and Microsoft are just lovin' this news. With nVidia jacking up prices on the new 30XX series, the new gaming consoles set to arrive this November will be the more palatable gaming option

More expensive top-line chips for sure. Nvidia will see to it that “equivalent” performance will price-match. ie: your 2080 Ti will perform similar to equivalent priced 3080 (“Non-Ti”) for same price.
Kinda like last series.

I'm hopeful this is not the case. But again, that's just hope, not gonna hold my breath lol. Would be nice if the 3080 offered at least the same performance of the 2080 ti, but at the traditional price point. If Nividia can pull that off, they'll get my money this round. If not, i'll have some choices to make I feel. I'd rather they make the buy easy for me.

What do you think about the prices of next NVIDIA GeForce Graphic cards? Higher or lower than RTX2080Ti? Covid-19 could influence price to go in both directions.

If they stopped production of the 20 series it's probably because they are making a 30 series chip. With a 30 series of card rumored to be released this fall we can figure that 8-12 weeks from now it would be in a next generation card that we already expected to see. The unknown is how many of the 20 series of chips NVIDIA is sitting on right now to last that 8-12 weeks. As for the next generation costing more I really don't see it since people already thought the 2080 and 2080Ti where at the price limit for buyers. To take away the 2080 and the 20080Ti means people probably wouldn't like seeing a higher price even if the performance increases. Finally as for vendors increasing the price of 20 series cards because of a shortage... well they can but they have that same 8-12 weeks to sell them or else they are sitting on last generation inventory and I think they will find gamers waiting for the next generation then spending more at the tail end of a hardware generation.

All that matters to NVIDIA is whether people bought them. I think that the price will be high. NVIDIA is expecting strong demand. NVIDIA warned its partners that mining is expected to take off again, and that supply is expected to run low. Consumer spending is up more than 7%. The US government is giving out more than $1 billion a week in aid. Inflation is going to be a thing. All of these point to rising prices. The only reason NVIDIA would ignore those factors and not raise prices is if NVIDIA wants to be the nice guy. Fat chance.

A lot of the aid during the pandemic ends on 7/25 and then without more help we could see a crash. That and high unemployment and right now almost three quarters of a million people in the United States calling in sick daily because of the pandemic is going to become a problem. At the rate of spread we could be looking at 5% of the United States workforce calling in sick daily because of Covid-19 by the time the next generation comes out. Not sure it would be wise to go much higher but of course these cards probably got planned well before the virus. I guess I could see a slight increase in cost but I guess it depends on what the launch cost of the next generation consoles are.

if that's true then Nvidia has lost its mind for good! and to aggravate we are in a middle of a pandemic where people are becoming unemployed very fast, etc.. etc.. 500 dollars? that's easy over 500 euros here in Portugal for a mid range card! the minimum wage here is 600 euros! sure hope AMD gives some fight back! everyone has lost it's mind!! i gave 770euros for a 1080Ti they are now asking 1200euros for a 2080 ti for only 25% maybe 30% of performance increase at best! what's next? they gonna ask 1500+euros for a 3080 Ti?? then what? 2000euros for a 4080 Ti in 2022? no freaking way!!!

Yeah, too late. If it was a month ago, they would sell like hot-cakes. Consumer spending shot way up -- especially in the computer hardware sector -- and people apparently had nothing better to spend their stimulus and $600 unemployment benefit on. Now that some may have finally woken up to reality, their spending is expected to decrease.
