Just got my new Scalar Flow indicator from EK and installed it on my graphics card water block...... It is a bit on the big side for a flow indicator but does look cool mounted to and hanging off of the graphics card water block :)

Nice Rig that is a big flow meter indicator your M.2 needed that extra fan, or is it just a precautionary measure ? I like your fill port solution edit: meter indicator

Thanks. Kind of cool though, replaces the stock EK terminal and the LEDs are not too glaring. Both M.2s run high 40s under load with the extra fan on them (one also under sound card). Mostly precautionary but the lower one does not get much air flow as it is partially under the sound card as the slot is in line with that PCI-e slot on the board. The way i have my res, it blocks some air flow from the front fans across the mother board. On the fill port, I used the existing two holes in the top side rail of the case and made a little mount out of plex and screwed it to the side rail with a couple of mother board standoffs. worked out sweet.

Nice rig, does the flow meter have an output that you can monitor the flow rate with software such as AIDA64 or HWiNFO?

If they can't get up to operating temperature of 50c or above, they will die prematurely. You are killing your M.2 card's NAND memory chips. They are supposed to run hot. They are designed to run hot. They die sooner if you don't let them warm up. Optimally, you want them to IDLE at 40 to 50c. If they idle at 40 to 50c, they will retain their data longer for reads. When they are writing, they will heat up, and that is good. During writes, its good for them to heat up to 60 to 70c. By not blowing a fan on them, you allow them to heat up and cool down naturally and operate as they are supposed to. By blowing a fan on them, you force them to run cool and they will die quicker.

There seems to be a lot of debate over this topic. From all the stuff I have read on the subject, it seems that NAND temp has to do more with the NANDs ability of how long it can retain the data stored on it in a powered off mode, not really how it affects the overall life span of the NAND chip. NAND chips have a finite write cycle life. Writing to them is what physically wears them out. This is why the life span from manufacture is rated in total terabytes written to them. It has nothing to do with temp unless the temp is so extreme that it physically damages the chip. The drives have overheat protection built into them for this, they will throttle when they get too hot. Bottom line for me, the drives have a 5 year warranty with 300 & 600 TBW life span under warranty. If they fail during that period, I get them replaced under warranty. If I am reducing the life span of them, they will still last longer than their usefulness as newer technology drives come to market and I replace them with newer, faster ones. Same thing as for CPUs and GPUs. I am overclocking both and that is reducing their life spans sure, but I will be replacing them with newer versions well before I hit that reduced life span.

Sorry, not going to debate how and why my system is setup with you. Especially when the original topic of the thread was about my new coolant flow meter, not my SSDs. Thanks for the unsolicited advice on SSDs

It is a nice setup. But, technically, it is a flow indicator, as it does not output a signal to allow measurement of coolant flow. Still, nice rig.
