Hi everyone! I'm back after several years! I am working on a EVGA z370 MB with a Supernova 850 G3 fully modular power supply. I'm looking for the proper cable to run from the power supply to the 6 pin ATX port on the motherboard. The only cable I found in the kit bag that I can actually plug in and the pins match is labeled VGA on the power supply side to a 6 + 2 (8) pin on the destination side. I need to know if there is a specific cable for that and if so, can someone get me a part number? Or will this VGA cable work? I don't want to blow the MB. Thanks, Bret

I was thinking that may be the issue but I'm still getting the D6 code (EVGA 1080 FTW) Z370 FTW with I7 9700K even with the extra power. I can move this issue to another heading if needed.

I moved your posts to your own thread. For the D6 code... https://forums.evga.com/D6-error-m2032487.aspx

Thanks again! I appreciate your help. I've got to get used to the forum again. I figured we would need to move it. I will take a look at the link.

I will need to do the steps from the link above and post back. This is a PC that a friend of mine put together. He is a beginner so I will need to check over his work. I will do as it suggests and remove inspect and reinstall the CPU. The memory checks out, and I have removed the video card and relocated it to the proper slot. I hope this works. Neither he nor I have seen the post screens yet. It seems to be indicative of CPU issue since the onboard video does not seem to post when I remove the PCIe video card. Alright all, I have checked the CPU socket for debris or damage with an eye loop. It looks good an clean. I reseated the CPU and fired it up. No post- error code stops at d6. I removed the GTX 1080 FTW. I have the onboard HDMI connected for the internal graphics to post. I reseated the RAM. I REMOVED the M.2 EVO drive. Any ideas? Thanks, Bret

Might want to try the gpu in another system, or try a different gpu in the current system to see what happens.

Yes, I will do that. I just thought I could get it to boot on the IGPU. Does need bios setting changes first to for IGPU to work initially?

It shouldn't if the gpu has been removed and the cmos has been cleared.

OKay, It won't post to IGPU either with GPU removed RAM only onboard. I have also tried BIOS 2 and I get code 79 on that one.

Okay. I'm going to put this in my PC now. I have a 1080ti FTW3 Hybrid. I will remove it and put this 1080 FTW Hybrid in it's place. I will see if it boots up in my PC and if so, I will log back in here and give you an update while it's running in my computer. Thanks again for all your help Sajin. Bret :D

Okay, I'm on my computer with the 1080 Hybrid Card from the Z370 board. It booted right up and I have both my displays up. Maybe I need to call in a ticket for the motherboard. Thanks, Bret :D

Sajin, I have process eliminated the D6 down to CPU and MB. Since you need to have memory or get the 53 error, I tested with other memory to eliminate issues there. I have been reading about the Z370 Motherboards with 9700K processors needing to have an updated bios in order to run them. This is a new build that has never posted past the D6 error or successfully logged into the bios. So my friend never had the opportunity to upgrade the bios before having me look at the computer. Is it possible I would need to add a more compatible (older bios accepting) CPU to get it to boot into the bios, then do the necessary bios updates to accept the new 9700K CPU? Thanks, Bret

I have sourced an Intel Core i3-8100 Desktop Processor 4 Core 3.6GHz LGA 1151 300 Series 95w CPU. According to the EVGA product information page, the Z370FTW supports this CPU and this particular CPU requires Bios ver. 1. I will report back once I take possession of the CPU, install it, and upgrade the bios to support the 9th gen i7-9700K. Bret :D

Success. Intel Core i3-8100 CPU did the trick. It posted right to BIOS ver. 1.08. (bios selection 1 and 2) I upgraded to ver. 1.13 (Z370 FTW MB) and it posted. Removed 8100 CPU and installed the 9700K, booted into both BIOS with no problems. Since this was first real post and boot I configured the M.2 drive as enabled for the onboard 2TB Samsung 970 EVO NVMe drive, and installed Windows 10 Pro. Delivering PC back to my buddy tomorrow. (Of course using social distancing!) Thanks, Bret
