Hey everyone. So I upgraded to an x299 ftw k and an Intel i9-10940x. Had some issues at first due to MB bios, however EVGA sent me a bios chip with 1.22 on it. Woot.

Ok, so I made it to the bios screen. CPU test is fine on all cores and RAM is registering, however it does not boot to my SSD, though it seems to register it correctly in the bios.

The SSD has a prior version of Windows 10 with all my files from the prior build where the MB failed. I did buy a new Windows 10 Pro retail to use if needed, but I would expect it to at least boot to Windows and tell me it needs to activate or something. Did so with my last upgraded motherboard. Any suggestion? There is also a beep code on startup. 1 short, a pause, then 4 more quick short beeps with different pitches.

Is the SSD m.2? or SATA?  Spec on the old machine?  The best path for the new machine is to do a clean install.

Even though you purchased a copy of Windows 10, it is probably NOT up to date.  You can download the Windows 10 media tool here:

Create a new flash drive install and follow the instructions by the gentleman in the first video.  You can delete the old partition and create a new one during the install.  Most likely, you have old outdated drivers that do not work with the X299...perhaps that is why Windows won't start up.  It is always best to do a clean install on a new system....too much left over "baggage" from the old install.

If the drive is m.2, you have certain things in the bios that must be activated and deactivated for it to work properly.  Let me know and I will post some bios screens for you...

What do you mean by prior build where the MB failed? If that was a different Mobo other than the current one then you should do a clean install but retrieve all of your Files first . If you have another SSD/HD Drive install window there then you can retrive Files from SSD but disconnect SSD prior to Window install.

If it's detecting the drive but not booting and the drive would boot before I would be checking the csm mode in the bios if it has it as well as make sure it's set to ahci and not raid. Also check secure boot to see if it's enabled or disabled. Whatever your bios settings we're when you installed the operating system to the drive is what they should be on now or very similar. However I wouldn't be spending much time trying to figure it out, it's pretty simple just to get your bios set the way you want and do a fresh install.
