I purchased a EVGA 850w power supply back in August for a new PC build, and have been having random crashes every since, since this was a new build I thought I had done something wrong and did the usual reinstal windows, check drivers etc, none of which helped, I was still getting random disappearing shutdowns. Finally after many months I turned off ECO mode and the system has been rock solid. I am stunned that the power supply would be causing this issue, no crashed in days now.

Is this normal ? ECO just doesn't work as advertised ?

Are you in Europe or the USA? My suggestion is that you contact EVGA tech support.

No it isn't normal at all, and it's not the first time that ECO Mode has caused a PSU to shut down.

Contact EVGA as suggested above, I'm sure an RMA is in order.
