YouTube has removed hundreds of videos showing robots battling other robots after claiming they are in breach of its rules surrounding animal cruelty.
YouTuber and robot enthusiast Anthony Murney was one of the first to highlight the issue, who blamed a new algorithm introduced by YouTube to detect instances of animal abuse.

"There is a new algorithm that's trying to take down robot combat videos," he said in a video on Monday.

Hmmm ,wonder what animals have been harmed? Someone put a raccoon tail on their battle bot? Very odd for sure.

Wonder how long before hunting channels or animal rescue channels start getting persecuted by this. YouTube has a long history of expanding their definitions and interpertation of individual words, terms, and policies based on their feels of the day. Often resulting in channels with no violent or even objectionable content getting strikes and videos taken down. Robot battles are just another drop in the bucket.

YouTube seems to have their best interests in mind, but they sure take a screwball approach to implementing things.

The robot battle videos obviously weren't taken down on purpose. They will return. It's simply a false positive by the AI. YouTube doesn't use humans to take down videos. There are far too many videos for humans to patrol them. YouTube trains AI to do the work, then uses humans to reverse any mistakes, and retrains the AI as necessary. The manual reversal process is always the slowest part because it requires human communication, interaction, and a comparatively small workforce.

Cool your horses. I can see how objects fighting and destroying other objects in a ring with humans cheering could confuse the AI into thinking that it matched animal fighting.

And everyone wants a robot these days.  Imagine if your robot 'buddy' mistook you as a armed intruder?  hmmm?

Wait a min....maybe the youtube AI systems are trying to pick a fight with robots (AI) in general?

So the computer AI don’t want to see violence against robots but humans will say it’s ok. In what science fiction movie does this end well for mankind?

Are you serious? It's a neural network. It will do whatever it is trained to do. It has nothing to do with violence against robots. It has to do with small blobs meeting small blobs, fast motions, parts of small blobs falling off of small blobs, small blobs inside a confined area, and much bigger blobs lining up around the confined space making a lot of noise.

Every day YouTube's AI is being trained. Every day YouTube's AI is taking down videos or copyright striking videos. It's all automated. Has been all automated for years. As YouTube's staff manually restores the videos, the AI learns which videos are acceptable and its training gets better.

Why is it that we are having this conversation years later as soon as it is about robots? You guys are very strange. There are easily hundreds of thousands of examples of strange takedowns in the past. I am sure that you could have found some weird reason to be alarmed by some video which was taken down 2 years ago.

When I saw the first part of the OP, I assumed it was some spinner in California pushing rights for battle robots in just another example of extreme over-the-top political correctness.
