Hello all,

I hope I am writing in the right area. I feel like I've been out of the graphics card loop ever since the Bitcoin stuff started.

I have a pair of 970's that I have with sli, but as you all know this is sorta dead technology.

I find it that only few games benefit of the SLI. the only one I can think of that I play is GTA V.

I find that it's perhaps time to upgrade to a newer card, even if it's refurbished.

I was searching through the products here and was a bit thrown off by all these "shorter" cards. What's up with the length of them?

Also, what would you suggest is a decent upgrade from really just one 970 as I usually have to turn off the SLI for some of my games that perform poorer under it.

CPU is an AMD FX 8300 overclocked to 4.2ghz and a 144hz monitor which I'd like to take advantage of.

    Hello,

The shorter length is simply that. A shorter card that some people like buying instead of the full length cards.
Keep in mind that a lot of the newer cards that are shorter in length tend to make up for it by having a thicker heatsink so instead of it being a 2 slot card it ends up being a 2.75 slot card.
As for recommendation: The lowest card that you buy that still will give you better performance than your 970 is the 1660.
If you are doing 144hz 1080P gaming, I would probably suggest either the 2060 or 2060 super so you can run most games at the higher settings and still be around the 144 FPS range.
