Techland CTO, Pawel Rohleder revealed some interesting information regarding its upcoming Open-World RPG, Dying Light 2, in an interview with Wccftech. He talked about the Chrome Engine, potential mod support, DirectX12 implementation, and the possibility of the game launching with real-time ray-tracing support. The team is researching ray-tracing but it’s not final whether it will be included in the final game or not as they are wary of performance constraints. They are focusing on photorealism and testing different lighting conditions, including utilizing ray-tracing for global illumination. They are also testing the viability of NVIDIA’s DLSS tech which basically upscales the image using data from super-computers and utilizing it with the help of the Tensor Cores.

Dying Light 2 was showcased at E3 last year, and more information is expected to be released at this year’s expo in June. As of now, it doesn’t have a release date.

Sounds like a game that would do very well to have the best lighting possible for both day and night cycles. Last year the game already was looking like it would be a lot of fun but having ray tracing just makes sense.
