Recently upgraded my gpu from an evga 980ti to 2080ti black. My monitor had dvi port which worked fine with the old card but had to use a dvi to displayport cable for the new card (displayport output on the gpu side). I’m now occasionally getting blank screen saying monitor out of range on the screen. After awhile it will finally display the login screen. Sometimes it starts with no issues. When it happens, it’s Almost like the gpu is outputting in a resolution the monitor can’t handle. Any ideas on how to fix this? My desktop resolution is set within range for the monitor if that helps.

This may or may not help, but I had the same sort of problem. I always used DVI until I got this 2080 Ti. Now I use HDMI. I would get a black screen no matter what. So I turned on the PC, hit the delete button, went into the Bios, clicked on "Set Bios to default" (or whatever it was called exactly), hit F10 to save, and exit. PC restarted with no black screen. It has worked every time after that. No black screen. (That is the way my problem was fixed).

Off topic: I can only make a post in these forums at the moment by hitting F5 after posting the message. Sigh!

Unfortunately I Can’t do that because the only hdmi output on the gpu must be used for the wmr vr headset. Too bad the card doesnt have enough ports 🤔

Get a displayport to hdmi adapter for the vr headset. I have the same for my Oculus Rift.

Mine is rated for 4k. Bought on amazon.

Quick fix would be to grab any new monitor. A nice new 1440 ultra wide g-sync monitor would be nice.

What monitor do you own? Which cable are you currently using to do the conversion? A link to the cable you're currently using would be helpful.

It’s an acer ve248h a few years old so only dvi and hdmi connections. The adapter cable was from frys but not some well known name brand. To be honest, it serves me fine as my gaming using the monitor is limited. Most of my computer time is in VR flying or gaming so not intered in dropping more momey on a bigger or better monitor at this time if I dont have to.
