Hey guys, what's the latest stable drivers for the 1080ti (I have a 1080ti sc2 gaming hybrid)

I have seen post before, and a recent video (perhaps people being to paranoid) about video card manufactures nerfing old generation cards with drivers to make them under perform, brick themselves, or blowup lol.

Now i have experienced a gaming laptop brick itself after a driver update for the gpu, but not sure if that was just coincidence or not.

I have been running the same drivers for awhile now without problems, untill i recently picked up the new metro game. Did'nt know if it was worth updating the drivers to see if it solved the random game crash, or if the newest drivers aren't performing well due to lack of attention since the new gpu series came out.

These work for my EVGA 1080 Ti FTW3 Hybrid   ver 378.92

I only change drivers when required or there is a demonstrated improvement .... not ever time Nvidia makes a New & Improved driver

I'm using the latest drivers and I cannot think of any reason why you'd not use the latest with the latest updates, security patches and fixes. Of course many have their own anecdotal preference based on THEIR system and their usage. And lastly  'I've seen or read Nvidia is nerfing  performance....'  I've done these tests over the years myself and many credible sites have done these tests. There is ZERO performance degradation over time with drivers on the same GPU. In other words, a Maxwell GPU performs the same or better in Bioshock any of a dozen games on an older drivers versus newer barring a bug or regression. The main difference is newer games using rendering techniques that are now done either partially or completely in hardware versus being done via software.

It's not a bad idea, and what I always do, is read the Release Notes for the Driver located in the Additional Information tab, check for for Open Issues and other considerations/enhancements/optimizations/information before installing the driver..That way you're aware of any known issues that might crop up, and other stuff.

There's also the "Official XXX.XX Game Ready WHQL Display Driver Feedback Thread" over at the NVIDIA GeForce Forums. You can poke around there and see what issues others might be having..Or if you have an issue that might be addressed there..Just put in the driver version in place of XXX.XX and google it for older drivers.
