Sometimes when my laptop is struggling I open task manager to close things or put them to high priority

(or try to help some other way) and it shows my cpu

and physical memory usage on the bottom.

Sometimes one is at 5% while the others at 80%, and its kind of weird how my whole laptop seems to be suffering while on aspect is doing great. What do I need each of them for? RAM included because I dont know what that does either.

While that is a generalized question it would help to know the make and model of your laptop

You have ELI5 in your topic header - https://eli5.readthedocs.io/en/latest/

How does that pertain to your question?

Jon don't you know your internet slang? < That is sarcasm.

ELI5 is an acronym for explain like I'm five.

Edit: This is why I dislike and try not to use acronyms and adverbiations or slang.

Okie so here is how i explain this to someone with zero computing knowledge or experience:

Think of your computer like a human body.
The processor is your brain, it tells your body what to do.
The hard drive is your long term memory, essential memories go here like how to talk, eat, walk and breathe
The Memory/Ram is short term memory, basically its like trying to remember what you had to eat for breakfast from 6 years ago.
Its kind of like that with the motherboard being the nervous system and the power supply being the blood
