Hello All,
   I just purchased my first Nvidia GPU in over a decade. I grabbed an EVGA RTX 2060 XC Ultra. The performance is great and I got Gsync to work on my Freesync monitor with no problems.
 
The one fly in the ointment is the fans turn off and on constantly. I know this because they make a very light metallic click when they turn on. It's driving me nuts. I would like to just turn on the fans at a low RPM all the time so I don't hear the sound. I can't seem to find any EVGA software to control the fans. I downloaded and installed MSI Afterburner but the fan speed control is greyed out. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance for any help you can provide. Cheers.

Thanks for your reply. I saw Precision but it didn't list any of the RTX cards as supported. I'll give it a try.

I have the same issue. I'm not really bothered by hearing a noise once when I start up a game, but once I return to idle and my GPU starts cooling down, I hear the fans repeatedly start and stop for 15-20 seconds.
 
Does anyone know how to find the GPU's default fan curve? None of the preset curves in X1 have fan stop, so I'm not sure if any of them are close to the default curve. I'd like to set a fan curve that matches the default but has temperature hysteresis enabled, so the fans won't stop until everything has cooled past the point where they won't need to start back up again.

That's normal, at 41c your fans should not be running.

I just got the same card (my first EVGA) and am regretting it already. Precision X1 is alpha software not a release level.
 
First, I started getting this clicking noise which sounded like the hard disk drive seek clicks in the 80s and 90s. When I turned everything on with the cover open, I realized that it was occurring whenever the fans (either one) stopped and came on again and they were switching quite rapidly back and forth at idle temperature. Web search reveals that this has been a problem with EVGA HDB fans since at least the 2018s. There are documented videos of this.
 
There is no way around it other than to use fan control to make sure either the fan never turns off to prevent the sound (making the idle stop useless feature) or play around with the hysteresis value to reduce the frequency but not eliminate the sound entirely.
 
I have the latest Nvidia graphics driver installed via GeForce Experience and Windows 10 Pro with all the latest updates. 16GB of memory and an i7 with a SSD drive.
 
So, I downloaded the latest Precision X1. The default setting has the logo coming up and not minimized. So I changed it to minimize on startup and not show the logo. No button to save the setting page (different from the save a profile for the settings. Ok, I thought it was automatically saved ... wrong.
 
Then I went into the fan control, checked fan control, set a custom fan curve and 5C hysteresis value and pressed apply. Seemed to work. Clicked Save. Profile 0 lighted up. So far so good, came back to settings and the previous changed settings were gone. So I set it again and went back to fan curve. Changed a value slightly and clicked save again. Program crashes. Turns out it crashes every time I do a save to a profile that has already been saved where one would expect it to update the same profile.
 
Ok, on restart of the program I found nothing had been saved including settings. So, I go through the whole process again and exit the program after saving to the profile once. Restart the PC as someone suggested in one of the threads. The fans are stuck at 25% and the temperature is around 75C. Not any fan curve I had set. Of course, the Precision 1 hadn't started at all when rebooted. So, on manually starting it, nothing had been saved, not the settings nor the fan curve, it is just as if I had started it for the first time!!! Who develops this software for EVGA? I thought EVGA was a reputable company.
 
Is the QC at EVGA this bad? This is not something an RMA can fix. Returning it means paying the restocking fee. I don't like companies that do business this way. Is this the norm for EVGA?
 
Very disappointed and such a waste of hard-earned money.
