My question is whether any, and if yes how many simultaneously , of the 3 display ports on this card support dual-mode or DP++.

Some Info I looked up on dual mode
If the source supports dual-mode DisplayPort (also known as DP++), then you can use a passive adapter because the source can perform the conversion. If the source does not support DP++, then you need to use an active converter, which includes additional chips to perform the conversion.

The DisplayPort uses an  signal protocol that is not compatible with DVI or HDMI. However,  DisplayPorts are designed to transmit a  DVI or HDMI protocol () across the interface through the use of an external passive adapter. This adapter enables compatibility mode and converts the signal from 3.3 volts to 5 volts. For analog / and , a powered active adapter is required for compatibility and does not rely on dual mode. Active VGA adapters are powered by the DisplayPort connector directly, while active dual-link DVI adapters typically rely on an external power source such as USB.

My card P/N: 08G-P4-2071-KR.  I did some searching and did not find a very official word as to the DP++ support.

I know I can be on the safe side and purchase active adapters but if I can save a some money I'd like to know how passive adapters are supported and supported simultaneously.

I have one adapter DP to DVI that I'm currently using that I'm fairly confident that is passive, but want to know whether an additional 1 or 2 passive adapters (either DP to DVI or DP to HDMI) could be supported simultaneously.

Thanks in advance

Well I may have found my answer with more searching and deducing but would still like confirmation if possible.

The features tab of the video card's page states display port 1.4 and it looks like since display port 1.3 it was mandatory to support dual mode with the standard. So that gives me greater confidence passive adapters will work.

I would just like to know whether 2 or 3 simultaneous passive adapters should work.

Thanks again.

Thanks for the Welcome!

Not exactly the response I was expecting posting to a forum.

Yet, a pretty painless call with a short wait time and EVGA rep was able to confirm that simultaneous passive adapters are supported on the multiple(3)  1.4 display ports of this card.

But be aware if you are trying to push higher refresh rates and or higher resolutions e.g. ;2K 4K, that may require active adapters.  For now I'm just running several 60hz 1080 panels. When I upgrade my monitors I'll be getting ones with display port inputs and run DP cables to and fro.

Passive adapter Higher Refresh Rate Caution
Although the pinout and digital signal values transmitted by the DP port are identical to a native DVI/HDMI source, the signals are transmitted at DisplayPort's native voltage (3.3 V) instead of the 5 V used by DVI and HDMI. As a result, dual-mode adapters must contain a level-shifter circuit which changes the voltage. The presence of this circuit places a limit on how quickly the adapter can operate, and therefore newer adapters are required for each higher speed added to the standard.

Passive adapter to DVI Higher Resolution Caution
Since DisplayPort dual-mode operates by using the pins of the DisplayPort connector to send DVI/HDMI signals, the 20-pin DisplayPort connector can only produce a single-link DVI signal (which uses 19 pins). A dual-link DVI signal uses 25 pins, and is therefore impossible to transmit natively from a DisplayPort connector through a passive adapter. Dual-link DVI signals can only be produced by converting from native DisplayPort output signals with an active conversion device.

As a user/ volunteer based support forum, asking EVGA directly was the Fastest way to get an answer.  Maybe some other members would have shared their experience over the next couple of hours or days
