RTX 2080ti black
PS : 750w thermal take
CPU : 8700k @ 5.0 ghz
RAM : 32gb ddr4
MOBO: ASUS MAX hero V
Windows 10

- Hi every thing is  up to date, clocks don't seem to make a difference... I get constant crashes in games like rainbow 6 siege etc.  When the games crash it's always straight to desktop.

- The odd thing is my buddy with another EVGA 2080ti crashes in r6 at the exact same moments that I do.  ( so it might be game related with that particular crash ) - but it seems to still be occurring in other IPs.

- I've searched Google endlessly, and I doubt this has to do with bad micron ram, does anyone have any other directions I could go in?

I've already checked for bios updates, drivers... Wiped drivers in safe mode, ran stress tests, ram checks, repairs ( all the typical trouble shooting steps)  and i'm at a complete loss here, and I really don't think it's a WATT issue.

I typically don't like to blame the manufacturer... So for now i'm assuming  NV still needs to flush out their drivers?

What driver version are you running on your computer? I've been having issues with 417.81 and 418.91 came out today....which has made my issue worse. Seen many people having the same thing. Just a FYI. Someone more skilled than I will want that version number to start with. Im no expert but if you and your buddy are crashing at the same time, Id point to software not hardware.

Reverting to 417.71 has helped me but Ive only been testing on Apex Legends

#1 Set cpu to stock clocks.
#2 Set ram to 2666 MHz with correct timings and voltages.
#3 Run gpu at stock clocks.

See if that helps fix the crashes to the desktop.

Did that already, none of that worked.

    418.91

I've been rolling the new drivers to try to fix the problem, but the problems have remained the same.

My CPU and ram clocks have 0 effect on the crashes...

I'm starting to suspect because of how prevalent  these crashes are that it's a OPENGL/DIRECTX/DRIVER ( software/driver)  issue and not a power /clock rate issue like many have suspected.

    Growing pains I guess.

Have you tried to underclock your card to max negative values on the core & memory to see if that has any affect?

I cant use anything past 417.71, past that the game crashes for me so reverting helped me. Haven crashed since

    I would try this...

    1. Download OCCT and run that on your CPU for about an hour, this will confirm that you dont have CPU issue.
    2. Assuming that there are no issues with the CPU test above go ahead and download FurMark and trying running that and see if it crashes.
    3. If after doing step 2 you crash try turning down the power limit and see what happens while running FurMark.

Note: If it does not crash in step 1 or step 2 that most likely this is the game/driver issue and not hardware.

I actually think I solved the issue by doing a driver reinstall through safemode with networking off - as suspected it was software related issue and not a  problem with my hardware.  Essentially the driver windows kept installing left a conflict, so I had to force a clean slate so to speak.  I used the guru DDU software to clean out my old drivers etc, - restarted my computer back into safe mode sans networking - installed my downloaded NV drivers - rebooted back into my win system and so far im about 6 rounds deep and no crash.... lol it's a personal record.

Further my buddy, who also has an EVGA 2080ti crashed multiple times during that time frame - which kind of confirms it for me as we were both crashing to desktop when ever the issue occurred.

    - still had a crash in apex legends tonight, but i'm assuming that specific one was entirely software / client based as its a fairly new game.

Nope still getting the exact same crashes - I'm going to update to the advanced windows ten builds in hopes that there is something in there that might rectify the problem ( doubt it though )
