Hi all,
After installing the Hydro Copper water block in my EVGA RTX 2080 XC ULTRA, I can´t apply any amount of memory overclock in Precision X1 or MSI Afterburner, I get a black/green screen and the system doesn´t respond. I can´t add even 20Mhz. Before this updgrade I could add +800Mhz without any issue. I can add gpu overclock (+110Mhz) and power target to 130% as well, no issues in this point.

The only thing that I saw when booted my computer was a firmware led update prompted by Precision X1. The installation was successful.

I have tried a fresh nvidia driver installation (with DDU).

Some data:
- Model: EVGA RTX 2080 XC ULTRA
- Memory brand: Micron
- BIOS version: 90.04.0B.40.BB (latest I think)
- NVIDIA driver: 419.35 (latest)
- Firmware version: 49.48.76
- Precision X1 version: 0.3.12 (latest)
- OS: Windows 10 Home edition 64bits

Please, I would be very grateful if someone could help me solve it.

    Welcome to the Forum
Did you update the MCU with PX1 after you installed the Hydro Copper Water Block, Yes.
So at least PX1 knows you have the Hydro Copper Installed.
Did you remember to remove the Plastic Film from the Thermal Pads on the HC Block?
It makes no difference what Memory you have on your Graphics Card.
But we do need to know about your computer hardware.
How do you have your Custom Water Loop Setup?
Remove or uninstall the Graphics Drivers and run DDU in Safe Mode and Install the Drivers Fresh after installing the Hydro Copper Water Block is what I would recommend doing after you Reset your Motherboard Bios as if you have a brand new Graphics Card.

Sounds like it's time to go back to the stock cooler.

Better than stock cooler. 24 idle, less than 60 gaming.

    Why? What is the difference?

See Thread GTX 1080 Ti SC2 and Hydro Copper block install. Issues posting after waterblock install
    See Post #8
Not having the Water Block & PCB Flat & Level when installing the Water Block to the PCB can cause this.
Laying the card on a flat surface is not enough due to the DVI Port.
This can cause misalignment and Unequal Pressure when Installing the Screws with or without a Back Plate. Install all the Screws first but do not tighten them down.
Now tighten them down 1/2 way 2 times in a Cross Pattern until all the Screws are tightened down.
Place a block under the Water Block to allow the DVI Port to hang of the edge of the Block to keep the PCB and Water Block FLAT and LEVEL. Make sure the Wires and Connectors are not being Pinched or Smash By the Water Block.
And you are connecting the Correct Connector to the correct Socket on the PCB.
The Water Block was not installed correctly and needs to be reinstalled and it should be fine.

    Did you do this?

I'd guessing something from the block is touching something it should'nt. Only way to find out would be to remove the block abs put back on the stock cooler and test again.

Hopefully nothing was damage with the block install.

Ok, I will install again the stock cooler to discard others issues. Maybe (as you tell) something is wrong in the installation, but it´s very strange that with stock memory frecuency it doesn´t crash even under high load and stress testing, and if I add only 20Mhz it crash just when the test starts.

    Thank you very much!

Sorry for this it definitely sounds like the waterblock may not be installed correctly. Only thing you can do is reseat the block of try the stock cooler again. Now not to hi jack your thread since this picture is posted of a hydro copper look at the ring around the ports it looks wet BUT my hydro copper does the exact same thing but there’s is absolutely no leaks can anybody explain what this is it’s almost like some type of oil or the fluid is actually penetrating the plastic but as I said there are no leaks on mine but it does this. Also using EK fittings.

This Photo is from another Thread not from the OP of this Thread. Mine has this Wet Look as well but is normal.
It is more about setting the Water Block on top a box to install and keeping it Level and Flat.

I would say that is cutting oil\fluid from the manufacturing process when they tapped the ports to thread them. Will not hurt anything. I also would not say that should be normal as the port portion of the block was not properly cleaned after the drilling and tapping of the ports, poor manufacturing process\quality control in my opinion.

I have no issues either temps are 42 max in game and firestrike extreme stress test with several runs ambit temp is around 21c to 22c degrees. I don’t like the wet look around the ports as was discussed a few post ago but the performance is right with the EK block and imo the hydro copper looks better.

Wipe it off I did and now it is gone on all my cards.
I cleaned it off using distilled water.

Did you removed the black strip on the Back Plate Electrical Insulator?
The Metal Bracket that goes around the GPU Die with the Black Strip down or up?
It is an Electrical Insulator as well.

Black strip on the Back Plate Electrical Insulator? What do you mean?

The metal bracket is mounting with the black side on the PCB, so the metal side touches the water block, as the GPU Die. This is how is shown in the manual pictures.

It is like Black Electrical Tape.
Sometimes users remove it not knowing what it is, some are also a small Clear Plastic piece.

I would have to remove my Water Block to take a Photo on my GTX Card to do this.
One side is Bare Metal and the other Side Has Black Plastic Tape.
I do not see this on my RTX Card Back Plate But I did not remove my Black Plate when I installed the HC Water Block.

It is on the Right Side of the Back Plate on the GTX Back Plate
