Hello! My 2080FTW3 crashes in most games and it just crashed after 5mins of FireStrike Ultra stress test on 3DMARK. I have been playing some Destiny 2 lately and it also crashes. At first i thought it was because i had MSI Afterburner and EVGA Precision X1 running at the same time so i uninstalled MSI AB which changed nothing. I also clicked the "Default" button in PX1 to make sure everything is as default as possible. Temperatures never go higher than 60-65c. Power settings are on "Prefer maximum performance" in the NV control panel. I did not overclock the card manually and only changed the fan curve and played with the OSD a little. Just to make it clear i had a Titan X (Maxwell) with a hybrid kit for 3 years with the same system and haven't had a single problem. Nothing has changed in the build beside the 2080FTW3. Thank you for your help. Specs : Asus Rampage V 5930k@4.25ghz 32GB DDR4-3000mhz 3xM2 (OCZ RD400a, 950PRO, 970EVO) Antec HCP-1000w

Tried using "Debug mode" from Nvidia control panel but it seems the cards boosts the core to around 1900mhz anyways. https://imgur.com/a/UK146y5

Set your cpu & ram back to default clocks, and then see if you continue to have issues. How old is your power supply? Do you have another rig you can test the card in?

Hello Saijin,
Well the power supply is about 3 1/2 years old. Also the system previously had a 670/690/Titan X (maxwell) all in the same setup and none of them had any problems. I will try the stock clocks/mem on my second bios and i’ll also try reseating gpu and power cables. No other rig.

Ok what i've tried tonight. 1. Reseated psu cables = Still crashing 2. Reseated Gpu = Still crashing 3. Stock CPU/RAM = Still crashing (see green lines on monitor picture) Could too much sagging (see picture) cause this issue ? Also can i hear a sound coming from GPU, looks like a weird coil whine but could it be a faulty capacitor/memory module or something like that ? While prepping pictures and browsing chrome, screen froze with the same culprit. "nvlddmkm"

Did some researching on the sagging, and yes excess sag can cause issues.

@Saijin Well i’ll get a gpu holder it’s 13$ no harm trying it, plus there are some nice ones. What would you suggest after all that i’ve tried ? - Brand new windows install - Try in a friend’s rig If those two options crash again, i believe i’m looking at a rma ?

Hello! You still have these problems ? From what you’re saying your problems feels drivers related. Then again, if it ONLY does it in BFV (dx12) it could be the game itself. As for RT well since BFV is the only game supporting it right now, there’s next to no test possible. 3Dmark is releasing a RT benchmark tool in early January, you’ll be able to stress test your RT cores :)

@Saijin
I’ve tried putting the computer on it’s side and makinng sure the card is straight etc. Gpu crashed 10seconds into Firestrike Ultra stress test. Rebooted, didn’t even make it to the stress test, monitor froze with black screen, couldn’t do anything besides hard reboot. Now i’ve put the Titan X back in, didn’t do anything besides exchanging gpus and no surprise here the Titan X passed 2 consecutive stress tests (around 20mins) where as the 2080 would crash between 1-5mins in.
At this point it is clear to me that the rest of the system isn’t the culprit and the gpu is unstable or whatever. I’d like to point ou that i previously had removed PX1 and Afterburner completely just to make sure.
Also i’m pointing out another fact. This gpu has the “Micron” ics so my best guess would be that since the 2080ftw3 didn’t sell as much as the 2080ti ftw3, i bought an “early run” gpu, those that Nvidia claimed production issues.
God i’m pissed.

Sorry to hear that. Looks like you'll need to rma. My two 2080 ti xc gaming cards also use micron memory. I've had no issues with my cards so far.

As much as these cards cost I would just return it and get a replacement. You have done enough to eliminate your other components. If you swap the old card back in and there's no crash the cause is pretty evident. If it were me that would've been the extent of my troubleshooting for a brand new expensive piece of gear.

Yes, however they have gotten somewhat better with newer Nvidia drivers and updates, but still persist, I just did a clean Windows 10 reinstall via the Recovery option after downloading the most Current copy of Windows 10 PRO. I plan to test it out and see it that helps clear things out since there have been so many updates.

I had endless crashes on my first 2080 Ti FTW3 playing D2 and BF5 which I had to RMA. Got the replacement which was running fine for 6 days - and then the crashes began, can’t get a minute of play time without one. Unacceptable IMO. I am returning both and for the time being went back to 1080 ti FTW3 which runs so smoothly...of course doesn’t have the same frames but it never crashes on me. Overall it's disappointing of EVGA - there is something wrong with these cards and I have no confidence if I buy a third it won't be plagued by issues.

Yea but Evga receives gpus and then they build the pcb and everything that goes with it (ftw3) so they have to test it out more than that to make sure everything is fine. It’s both nv and evgas fault.
