Hey guys, how is it going?
I recently bought a brand new rtx 2070 xc gaming which has a hdmi port and a couple of displayports. However, my monitor is a shimian that runs at 1440p but only has a dvi (dual) port. I purchased a hdmi-dvi cable and the screen just goes black, as if its not detecting the image. Tried with a dvi-dvi cable with a hdmi adapter and its the same.
When i connect the gpu to the tv via a regular hdmi cable i have no issues, so its clearly not the gpu. In fact, im writing this now watching the image in my tv.
Any solution that doesnt involve buying a new monitor lol. Maybe trying with a dvi-display port cable or adapter???

Hi man, thanks for your answer. That adapter looks cool, but idk if thats exactly what i need. My monitor is 60hz max. Isnt there a cheaper alternative?

Nope as your monitor is 1440p.
A passive adapter wont do it then? I dont want 3d or eyefinity, just 1440p @60hz ps: sry for being repetitive.

Correct a passive adpater won't do it as passive adapters are limited to single link dvi which restricts the resolution to 1080p @ 60hz.

Got it, thanks man. Can i link something from ebay? Found one for 13 bucks that says it support 1440p.

No problem. You can post a link, but you'll need to put spaces in your link to make the link show up on the forums. 13$ adapter sounds too good to be true.

Do you think getting a cable with hdmi - displaport could be better instead an adapter?

No, as you need an active adapter since you're running 1440p.

I just went through this problem too with my new 2070. I have a Yamakasi Catleap Dual DVI only monitor.
