The Windows 10 user base is growing quite rapidly but that is really due in part to continued improvements in the operating system according to ZDNet. I personally believe the operating system benefits greatly from Microsoft listening to customer feedback and incorporating features that users are asking for. The end of support for Windows 7, is on January 14, 2020.

Of course this is the case when users are practically forced into Win10.  They are deceptive liars that cannot back their word to customers.

I wouldn't call it that. I'd prefer to say they want to spend money to eventually only take care of one operating system.

I also think it’s great for the consumer since a security flaw in older operating systems is often exploited to create botnets for DoS attacks. Even if an exploit is found on Windows 10 a fix can quickly be rolled out.

Maintaining outdated OS's is cost prohibitive.....I don't mind them updating things, but don't do stupid things like forced updates or "New hardware can only run windows 10) garbage.

I do not see how that factors in aggressive upgrades that have been changed to be a bit more lax since the initial launch.  But their customer service is atrocious considering they sold me on a specific version for standalone PCs so I could avoid specific updates only to be sold the wrong version.  They sent me another after I returned that copy after being told they would send me the proper version only to receive the same exact thing.  Then they treat me like I am being ridiculous and unfair because I am not receiving what I was sold over the phone, and proceed to tell me they will not follow through with providing me the version I was told they could provide me; the basis for my purchase.  In the end they wasted my time and money to an unacceptable extent considering I have to install the OS to find out what version they sent me, and their attitude and stupidity was the poorest customer service I have ever encountered beating comcast hands down.  It is a reflection of their devotion to their customers by hiring people that do not care about customers, and a lack of intelligence to make any effective decision making or reliable statements to their customers.  They are so lucky that their only real competition is linux and MacOS.  Also I hate how the Win 10 OS is in control whereas Win 7 the customer is in control, a reflection of their change in practice to be power mongers with no consideration of customer needs.  If they upgraded Win 7 to have DX12, improved compatibility, and features that are easily customizable to be outright removed at the customer's preference; their customer satisfaction would skyrocket pertaining to user experience with their OS.  Win 10 is a failure by eliminating customer control in certain areas.

Windows 10 is a horrible experience until I make my customizations to it. It's solid, but not the OS it should be to the user.

Well enjoy being in the stone age, windows 7 is an outdated sloppy mess of an OS, and 8.1 is just less user friendly. 10 doesn't have it's market share thanks to forced updates, Jun 17 showed that a year after the free upgrade it was only at 38% meaning we replaced 7 by choice.

7 looks outdated, and it runs poorly compared to 10, its getting bloated, isn't as well optimized, and its interface isn't as appealing anymore, except for its support of older computers like Pentium 4 or Athlon 64 to still use for the very improvished so they at least have internet access windows 7 is all but worthless junk.

I absolutely can not stand the looks of Windows 8 and 10. It's flat and boring. Windows 7 has been faster from my perspective. Probably because Microsoft designed it to actually use the memory you installed in your pc, Windows 8 and 10 are not using as much memory because they are used across several different devices with low amounts of memory. Windows 7 is solid, faster and appealing to my eyes, Windows 10, not so much until I make a bunch of tweaks to it.

Yeah I don't like that Win10 is a one size fits all OS from desktops to mobiles but I guess it's a sign of the times we now live in. I do like the sharpness and the cutting edge look. The straightness somewhat reminds me of the old days at the same time. I wish I could've had more time with Win7 but I held onto WinXP far to long.
But on onwards ... the only detection is forward.

It is actually a pretty sad statistic showing that  3 years later it has only improved to a decent level of acceptability from users being pretty much forced to upgrade.
After all the pre-testing of 10 and all the hate that was put out for  W8 , 10 should have been pretty close to the state it is in now on launch day , not 3 years later.

Re: Windows 10 after three years: A greatly improved report card 2018/07/17 09:26:06 (permalink)
One thing that I despise is the "Windows is a service" so at lest I get to own the dusty hardware.
But the question is is Windows 10 the end all ... the last Microsoft OS? As Micro$oft had stated a couple of years ago. Or they just going to keep changing it under the hood well past the point of what it started as but keep the 10 fixed to the moniker?
If that is the case why'd they give it a 10 and not something like forever, eternal, enduring, sempiternal or until hell freezes over? Windows Eternity
