Hey everyone, I posted this under the "Laptop" section as well, hope that is ok.

I just received a used SC17 off eBay. Seller said it had 21-22 months left in warranty period.
I contacted support and was told it has 257 days left in warranty (about 8.5 months).
I'm unsure what to say to the seller, I intend on keeping the laptop but want to ask for money back off the purchase price as the warranty is valuable, and I was lied to. I tried asking support what the worth of the warranty is, and they just quoted me the msrp of the laptop.

How much should I ask for considering it has 12.5months less warranty than advertised?

(support also told me it had been previously been sent in for service twice)

Take the claim up with ebay support. The item was falsely advertised.

Hello,

We apologize, but we always warn about the dangers of purchasing units on eBay as the sellers do not always have the right intentions for the buyer. I would start a dispute with eBay if the item listed does in fact say it has less warranty than advertised. When Laptops are usually sent in, they are for minimal things that are easily repaired with a BIOS update. Please keep us updated on this issue.

If you want to keep the laptop, ask the seller for some money back due to laptop warranty under a year left on it. If the person won't do it, open a ticket with ebay about it.

Very good idea. If the seller isn't willing to work with you on the matter, I would get eBay involved at that point. There isn't anything EVGA can do as this was a private transaction.
