Are you talking about a CPU heatsink which is stuck on? If so, I would use the computer, get the CPU good and hot by running something like Prime 95, shut down the computer, and then try to pull the heatsink off right away. When the thermal paste is warmed up, it is usually easier.

Otherwise, please tell us WHICH heatsink you are trying to take off of WHICH motherboard. Model numbers, please. Pictures help a lot too.

It would seem you need to take the mobo out of the case to address this issue.  Then you can see how many screws are used and where they are located.

Take a picture of the underside of the heatsink. You can pull the RAM out of the way to see it better. Usually there is a relatively sinple mounting mechanism or a latch that holds it in place.

Looking from the top, it is hard to see how it is mounted.

Since it's a x79 board there are most likey 4 screws from the top holding it on, as stated you will most likely need to remove the board to access them

Maybe it is worth asking, why do you want to remove the heatsink?

    -Remove GPU
    -Remove RAM
-Then see if you can remove/separate the fan on the air cooler from the radiator

Then you should be able to get a better view of the mount underneath the rad.

Hopefully the OP figured it out, lol.

Best option, type “how to remove cpu cooler” into YouTube and then look for one that closely resembles yours. Most of them mount the same way.
