I have a z97 classified with the extra 10 year warranty.  I RMAd because it was freezing but recovering.

Denied due to "damage" to sata port that I didn't know existed.  Not to the pins, it is basically cosmetic.

Regardless - "claimed" damage has nothing to do with board freezing, nor does it have any effect on pins making contact.

EVGA is this how you are going to play it?  I thought you were better than this.

We are sorry to hear about the denial of your RMA. We will review the case and reach out to you.

Updating thread for anyone that might be interested.

I was blamed for cosmetic damage that I did not know existed.  I was eventually contacted by email and said the "damage" was unlikely to be what is causing my board issues, but rma was denied because board was "unfixable."  Because of a piece of plastic.
Not bad metal pins, plastic on a sata connector that does not effect contact in any way.

Board considered a "total loss" because of cosmetic plastic unrelated to why the board is broken.

Very unhappy and not going to be a future customer if EVGA won't stand by their warranty.

If you paid by credit card you may be covered by their warranty, some cards have additional coverage.
Post a picture of said damage so everyone can see.
You may have to use a hosting site. I have used toms hardware free hosting.
Maybe able to hit the up arrow on the right side by where it says "quote", and then reply and then attach file. Not sure if there is a post count requirement or not.

+1... unfortunately, EVGA has gotten very strict since the whole miner/scalping craze took off and since people started crying the blues about the RMA's they were receiving. A few pictures showing what EVGA means specifically, the picts they sent you perhaps, would help us out a lot in trying to understand the situation but I must admit that physical damage to a product is hard to get around.

I did take a few pictures before I sent it in.  They didnt turn out so well with the motherboard dusty and wood grain on the table.  I didn't see damage but I wasn't looking anywhere specific except for the cpu socket.

We all know that plastic damage didn't cause the product to fail. They should honor the warranty and repair the product to be sold as B-Stock. At least that how evga use to do business.

I look as that plastic being broke as a product defect, a product broke when people try to use it, cause it is made of cheap plastic. Then the warranty is denied even though the cheap plastic has nothing to do with the reason the board failed.
Can't replace the USB sockets? It is just a few soldered connections on the bottom of the board.
That broken USP socket should be a reason in of itself for a RMA. Cheap plastic junk they make these days.

Well, I def see the chipped plastic in the before shipping photo so this is a iffy situation. Being you have a 10 year extended warranty they should at least give you a one time courtesy or workout something else with you. Im not very clear on the exact issues with the board so youd have to be a little more descriptive and tell us the rest of your parts.  Whoever inspected this mobo is probably figuring that you either dropped the board when testing it yourself out of the case or the whole pc got dropped, but either way it broke the plastic and either/or may have contributed to the boards issues. The freezing and recovering may be because the hdd/ssd is loose in that socket now, which you may be able to fix yourself and save yourself this whole headache though. At the very least the community can maybe help you resolve the issues if its possible.

How can you damage that SATA port by dropping the board? I don't see any marks on the product that even remotely make me think the customer dropped it. You don't even know if the customer even still uses that port of it's been like that for years.

I guess you would be fine if evga started denying customers warranty claims over dust on a product.

Plastic broke when  someone tried to use it, cheap plastic. Grounds for RMA
They should at least refund the cost of the extended warranty if they are not going to honor their warranty.
    This is ridicules.

If he was plugged into the port while testing is what I meant. Im sorry msim, I thought that was more apparent. Maybe it was shoved hard enough on accident to bend that little bit of cheap plastic etc... I don't know what EVGA's thinking anymore, just surmising. Your last inference I will not entertain. What is odd is that the same person also sent this one in and got phys damage too:

Yes, your right. I screwed up the tab I was trying to add and will fix it. Apologies to you and the OP. :)
