Hello, I have the GTX980ti SC card from EVGA. I bought the card in 2015 and it broke about a year later, shorting itself on the board (replacing the video card with another worked perfectly in the time, using a 660 or a 960, or a 1060). The second time it failed was about a month ago, same issues - it would "shut off" when gaming and then eventually the PC itself would totally fail to boot with it installed. I got back my 3rd card, and installed it. I got to use the PC for about a day or 2 and then it started doing the same thing. Below is what I now have in my card, waiting for support to call me or email me. At this point I am at a loss. I have used a GTX 660 from EVGA, an GTX 960 from EVGA and a GTX 1060 from Gigabyte in that same slot with the same power connectors and have had no issue at all. I run this card off an EVGA power supply, the "". The power supply does not appear to have issues with other cards, nor does the mother board or CPU. This is bothering me as it costs 60 dollars to ship/insure the video card back to EVGA each time, and the costs to just get warranty support are adding up. This time it arced and could have destroyed my PC. I need to know what I can do to prevent a never ending cycle of replacement, especially as this warranty is only good for a few more months, and then I will be forced to pay for a replacement if it fails. Any help, thanks.

I don't know man , maybe just join the club on burnt evga 900 cards or guys rmaing 2 or 3 times to get something back that works ? I now knock on wood everytime I fire up each day it seems with out a flash bang or smoke screen in my case from whats posted here lately ''The power supply does not appear to have issues with other cards, nor does the mother board or CPU. '' ya, but then there not as power hungry or power demanding as that 980ti when fully loaded , right ? I guess that a factory installed backplate or one you keep putting on when you get a card ? '' 60 dollars to ship/insure the video card back to EVGA each time, and the costs to just get warranty support are adding up. '' so evga don't reimburse you if its a valid RMA under full warrantee ? or even a shipping label to download and print to be used ? that's nice to know [ I never rma'ed with them ] then sounds like it may not pay off in the end anyway if I were to . looks like it maybe time to strongly ask for a = to 10 series card like a 1070 would be about right

Honestly, now that this one has started on fire inside the case, I don't want the same model that might cause another fire - but I will wait to see. To answer - no, they indeed do not pay for a label to send it in to them, and if it gets damaged in transit they deny the RMA, so you have to ship/insure it or risk losing your investment. I don't want them to give me the moon, but I want a working card that won't burn out my PC, especially as its their own gold certified 10 year warranty power supply thats only 2.4 years old that is running the beast. If they want both parts to test em together thats fine, but then im in need of a new PSU just to use my PC until they get them back to me, and im not keen on paying for shipping it all. Over all kinda bummed, lots of brand loyalty and this is expensive.

'' lots of brand loyalty'' pretty much a thing of the past , now a days it you buy , you try, and hope it don't make you cry with any brand and any time you can get the lemon . you look at a part you need and who got the best pricing when you put it in the cart . you get it you install it then it works and lasts as expected or it don't , I could of easy had a MSI card in here now but the day I pulled the trigger this evga was on a good sale + rebate [that I never used ] that's all there was to that . evga is not all that bad but now there around run of the mill average like the rest have been. like they say all good things come to a end . and there all cheap china made junk under the coolers sold to you at a inflated price . thing is Evga and MSI are the only 2 NVidia brands I ever look at anyway , so it one or the other . just evga won out this time and so far luck been on my side with it guy , today its led lighting , hype , and gimmicks are the strong selling points over service , support and quality .. at least unlike BFG evga is still here , but you see how they had to change to do so . I'm good with my card but then I could of got the lemon with evga just as easy as with any brand . luck of the draw is more important the ever in all aspects . and in the end I never RMA'ed anything , its a remove , shrug shoulders , throw in trash after salvaging things off it for the junk box , back to new egg , know better next time .. that eliminates the headaches and hard feelings and hassle .. with todays miner card jacked up prices a guy knida feels that's harder to do , and a rma looks far better right now and worth the risk + the cost and evga is still a bit easier to deal with by far here in the USA . times are tough right now in the vid card market I could figure a guy buys 8 - 12 evga cards for mining and 3 fail here and there and he dumps them to evga , I could think that puts some stress on there rma dept. to keep things up [???] . miners have just exploited the vid card market and made it hard on us all in the end .. [opinion] . good luck
