1080 SC problems?

So I ordered GTX1080 SC (08G-P4-6183-KR) from Newegg and people are telling me i should cancel my order and go with a SC2 because the SC has alot of problems with overheating, Bios and windows 10 fall creators update? Tried to look it up but all of these overheating(thermal pads) problems are from a year ago ... are these problems are still around now? or did all the problems from a year ago leave bad taste in their mouth?

    Any cards shipped or sold by EVGA will already have the thermal mod installed. Newegg might have leftover stock from before that time, but it's very doubtful.

    As I JUST had my 1070 replaced a week ago, I can tell you that the "serial number link" said my card was fine
    and apparently it was not fine. I wonder if there are others who used that "check link" that still had their card burn.
