What starts to become the bottleneck at these resolutions please ? Or maybe I should ask what piece of hardware is stressed the most at these resolutions ?

During gaming of course.

Is there any game you can think of where this is not the case ?

Yes, if you exceed 150fps on 4k.

CPU: 10900KF, RAM: Corsair DDR4 3600MHz 16GB RAM, GPU: EVGA 3080Ti FTW3 Ultra, PSU: Corsair RM850x, Monitor: Asus PG279Q 1440p GSync, SSD: Samsung EVO 960 nvme

World of Warcraft in particular is still hard on CPU with View Distance and Environment detail maxed out.  Even with my i7-8700k there are areas in the game where I am CPU capped in 4k.

So the only way for that to improve is a better CPU in 2 to 5 years time ?

Why doesn't Blizzard update World of Warcraft instead so people get better performance ?

I won't claim to know what's involved in overhauling a game engine because I certainly don't, but I'm sure with a game that's 13 years old with a ton of expansions it's easier said than done and implemented.  Plus, they would have to/want to make sure their existing playerbase can still play with their older machines.
