Hi,
Looking for suggestions. I'm installing my new nvidia GTX 1080 8g 11gbps GDDR5X 6582-KR and my computer starts but won't post. I've checked for proper seating, cables, etc. I'm replacing an old PNY Geforce GTX 650Ti XLR8 Performance card.

Have you tested the card in another system to make sure the card is working correctly?

Ah! I'll do that in my husband's computer when I get home from work tonight. I guess my subconscious didn't want to drag out another comp tower. lol   At least his 1080 installed perfectly.

I doubt that old motherboard will support an NVIDIA-based graphics card newer than something in the 600-series..The last mobo BIOS update was in 2012..If the card tests good in another box, that will be the deal.

Agreed. More than likely, the motherboard is not compatible with a modern UEFI-compatible video card.

If you test the video card in your husband's computer, make sure his computer's motherboard is compatible with a UEFI-compatible video card, otherwise it would also not work in his computer, and it might incorrectly seem to further confirm the suspicion that something is wrong with the video card.

Ok, card works in his system. It's newer than mine. I did find updated AMD chipset drivers that my system needed.
I disabled the onboard graphics when I installed the last video card, it doesn't show in task manager but I'll check bios.
I'll clear cmos after all video drivers and card are uninstalled.
Probably be back tomorrow with results.
    Thanks :)

Well at least you know the card works. Guess you'll need to replace the motherboard with a newer one that supports uefi.

WOOT!! Up and running. Downloading the drivers.
My motherboard is old, but decent. I upgrade my system as I can. It started as an HP back around 2010 and all that's left of that is the multi-card reader lol.  Everything else has been replaced, including the case(now a full-size tower).
Upgrades are slow because if I do something, I have to do something to hubby's system.
    Thanks :)

I'm guessing clearing the cmos did the trick?
