Can you run eGPU with the internal display of your laptop?

I want to connect my eGPU to the internal screen of my laptop. I have Akitio Node with EVGA 1080 Ti SC2 Hybrid, but no external monitor. Is there a way to make it work with the internal display?

    What kind of laptop do you have?  Does it support external GPUs?  (not all do according to the Akitio website and the PCWorld review)  The review noted if it works with you laptop it will work and if not try updating your Thunderbolt firmware and the firmware of the Node then try again.  If it still does not work you are out of luck with that laptop.

    Your best bet is to contact the laptop manufacturer for answers about their laptop.
