Can we please get an estimated release date for your X299 boards? It would make planning so much easier. At least the Micro should be right around the corner.

One important question: Are the product pictures that you see on the shop page for the X299 Micro correct? Since I used them for estimation to order an universal VRM waterblock from Anfi-tech. Seeing the Dark has gotten a new layout including new spacing between slots and a wider VRM segment, I wonder if the Micro got changed, too. Otherwise everything should fit fine.

Snipes7, I highly suggest patience until the product is physically in your hand before trying to get an idea of how any block will fit. I don't like being critical, but EVGA has been making a lot of changes right before releasing products without saying much.

think evga really dropped the ball on this one, the market will only wait so long.

uh... kinda hoped the release of the boards goes along side the 12-core release end of august. sigh.

Well I get the block made for me which takes 4 weeks so no time to waste :D well it would be kinda pointless to present detailed product pictures and provide manuals with more pictures if the endproduct will differ significantly. The Micro is the only X299 board with a product page in the shop... thats what actually led me to believe I can take the pictures for granted.

The lack of official communication when it comes to evga motherboards is quite disturbing. GPU section is fine though. But they want to provide enthusiast hardware and then there is no one answering of enthusiast's questions. No comment on my VRM / 8pin thread for example... no estimates for release... nothing. They must be really busy finalizing the boards, hopefully.

EVGA hasn't been making comments on any unreleased products. They stayed quiet with the 1080ti as they released it and all. This isn't uncommon.

Keep in mind Intel did launch the X299 platform a few months early. EVGA doesn't have the connections or the size of major players like ASUS, and even ASUS itself is still struggling as they only have 50% of their x299 boards out the door.

true they pushed up the launch a bit but if they want to run with big boys in the HEDT market they need to bee a little quicker, i mean they only usually have 3 or 4 MB per platform were asus and gigabyte have 15 or more.

Everyone knows that after the Intel. HEDT 7 series, the 8 series will be on x299 also. this is the way of life. 2 chips lines per hedt chipset.

No, I get it.  I just tend to think that with Coffee lake coming and whatever the next lakegate is (I forget actually), they are going to make the "affordable" x299 chips kind of useless.  For example, I was going to pick up a 7820X (still might) but if leaks are to be believed, the 8700k might actually be the better bet.  To be honest, I have spent the last few days figuring out if I want to grab Ryzen or the 7820X so I can have multi core again.  I sold off my X99 (5820k) a bit ago, but am working on some rather sophisticated CAD drawings again and the 7700k just chugs.  Getting back on topic though, I can't put my finger on what exactly intel is doing at this point in time.

If reports are true, the 8700K is quite a jump forward. I feel you will be  presented with the same real world performance as the 7820X. But probably that's because intel has already pushed the chip that little bit further @stock. I don't see that much more headroom. Then again it all comes at a fraction of the cost compared to hedt. I'm also with you on your last comment. Can't quite make out what intel is up to. If the 8700K is as good and as cheap as the 7700K... well there needs to be a price adjustment for the bigger chips aswell, otherwise creating too much of a gap, not even considering Threadripper.

I would say March or April of next year I will go for an 18 Core or 20 Core CPU and the X299 Dark or if they come out with a Classified MB.
Time to replace some of my severs with the Real CPU Horse Power and a pair of GPUs to go alone.
X79 - X99 - Next every other Year and now X299 and at this time EVGA should have a Solid Bios and Intel Issus if any will be known.

If I were building today, I think I'd go AMD Threadripper with a Asus Zenith Supreme. Price to performance is fairly nice but the problem is, AMD puts out a chip that is competitive with Intel offerings then gets buried for the next several years as they cannot keep up. Will be interesting to see if this has changed or will it be the same ol' AMD.

You sure Intel is not counting Kaby Lake as Number 2 on X299??

As long as your popular enough, you can get away with anything.

This is not confirmed because Kaby Lake-X is launched.
I afraid that Intel hurry to new socket with LGA3xxx.
But that's less important because these i9 line will serve years.
You don't need to have last platform for great performance. I would like more i7-6950X than i7-7820X and better i9 10-12 cores than next generation with 8 cores.
It's important power of CPU and I don't see nothing important except minor change for next socket and maybe PCI-E 4.0
X299 Dark in combination with Black GSkill and LED light and i9 will be great platform.
Rampage VI Extreme cost 650$, that mean if you choose some board as Apex or Dark or similar you could pay 8 core instead 6 or almost 10 instead 8 cores.

X299 Micro may have some stock next week

That's what I want to hear! I guess this doesn't count for europe/germany and I have to add some weeks to that to be able to purchase my board, but still that's good news! Do you guys ship to germany from the US webstore by any chance?
