I started to gain an interest when I saw them for the first time. I used to mess with some really slick RC cars and trucks nearly a couple decades ago. A few were clocked at over 60 mph and after some tweaks went beyond that. I remember showing off to my nephew one day, shot the car up the road and began a quick U-turn just out of line of site. Just then I saw the thing do cart wheels in the air. When I walked up to it I noticed it had killed a squirrel. These cars/trucks were fun but man, these drones look absolutely amazing. I watched quite a few youtube vids, stunts, site seeing, racing etc. but, last night I found one that got me hooked. I picked up a cheapo for $30 from Barns and Noble last week. Completely expected it to fly apart at the seems when I started it up. Turned out, the thing takes a beating and keeps going. So, anyone here caught the bug like I have? Going to use this new addiction to pass the time til gfx cards come back down to $reality$

I'm on the fence about getting one right now. Likely, I'll end up getting a decent one in a few months (maybe the Mavic AIR) as the prices should drop a bit as a couple of new models get released.

Just be aware of the requirements for flying in certain areas and "licencing" based on size and type of use. And try to stay away from trains, they have been told not to slow down for a drone.

Lol, I know trains won't swerve to avoid them. Yes, I am aware of the licensing requirements. I live in the boonies and will still follow regulations. Combined with vr glasses I think it just may be the closest humans will ever get to being able to have wings without putting on a squirrel suit and jumping from a plane.

We have some strict rules up here. Unless you apply and receive special permission, you cannot use the VR headsets. Any flights without additional permission must be done by line of sight between the operator and drone or a secondary person who has sight of both the operator and the drone and can clearly communicate with the operator at all times.

This is something I would like to try, starting out with a cheap one....to match my lack of flying skills. I think it could be a lot of fun.

Where I live is pretty lax. I can push full trees into burning piles with my big n loud diesel backhoe, hop off and blast clay pigeons with a band playing heavy metal on my upper deck to a crowd without disturbing neighbors or having complaints. I know it because I have done all that. I don't believe the drone police would cuff me for vr glasses. Lol
