I am debating getting a X299 Motherboard to load up with 4x1070s for mining so I don’t have to deal with risers/issues risers present.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a case to keep things nice and cool (I am not doing liquid cooling).

Thanks!

Fractal Design XL R2.  Has 9 expansion ports.  Because you're using 4 cards you're going to need 8 slots, which is difficult to find in a case.  The XL R2 is a sound dampening case which will keep the noise levels of those massive amounts of cards down.  I own an XL first gen.  It's quiet.

It has already been proven that miners had very little effect on the market.

Thank you for the recommendation on the XL. If cryptos go south, I will probably still

Many factors come into play due to lack of video card stock. There is great demand for supply from BOTH miners and gamers. Secondly there is too great a demand for memory and this also is causing shortages and also spiking prices. Add to that shortages of some semiconductors used in the manufacturing process. For stock to be relieved the semiconductor and memory shortage need to be dealt with first.

I realize a lot of people are angry about lack of stock but in the forums I'll ask everyone to remain calm and post professionally.

Thank you for the details on the stock shortage. We all have needs.. as computers aren’t just for gaming... or vice versa... mining. In essence, we are all in this together and need to wait and see

It has already been proven that miners had very little effect on the market.

For Nvidia cards, not for AMD cards.
Probably than 5% of all discrete Nvidia cards sold in 2017 (and the majority of those were in 2Q 2017) went to miners vs at least 15% and more likely 20-25% for AMD.
2018 so far seems to be even more lopsided, as the ONLY coin to see significant network hashrate growth (excluding ASIC mined coins) was Ethereum which is a major AMD stronghold.

Scary part - AMD almost LOST market share in 2017 vs Nvidia, despite the millions of AMD cards sold to miners that year.

Now that vorsholk has stopped his abuse, I'm returning to folding.
I no longer MOO due to abuses by certain "whales" in the Gridcoin community - so I now work the Distributed.net project directly again.
