Hello.  I am a flight simmer using P3D.  My current system has 2 EVGA GTX970's that are running well and supporting 6 monitors with P3D v3.4.  I do not use SLI.  I am fine with 1080p resolution.  The new version of 64bit P3D is recommending 8G of video memory, as the claim from LM is that the new 64bit version is GPU intensive.  My i74790K and 2400Hz 16G RAM should be fine.  My question is if my current 4G GTX970's are working well, can i purchase 2 new EVGA SC GTX1070's and install these and have them work out of the box?  My power supply supports 850W, so that should not be a problem.  i have a large case and good fan cooling.   Can anyone who is in the know technically or has upgraded to 1070's help me with advice or caveats?  Thank you,

Yes, they'll work no problem. I'd just be sure to uninstall your video driver before powering off and installing the 1070s.

If you use the old driver for the 970's that will probably cause you some difficulties which means more time wasted. You should be fine with your PSU though so that should not be an issue for powering both cards at all.

Thanks. That is helpful.  I presume I do the driver uninstall using Device Manager?  And i would have to uninstall the driver for both my 970 cards? Then shutdown and put the new cards in?  Then power up and make sure I had the newest nvidia driver installed?  Sorry, I have little experience with this.

Another question.  What if I only replaced one of the original GTX970's?  Would this be a problem?  That is, is 1 970 and 1 1070 compatible together in one system?  Any thoughts or advice?  Thanks.

Download DDU, Boot into safe mode, Run DDU, Select clean and shutdown option, Install new gpu's, Start computer, Go here and download the latest graphics drivers (382.33). When installing the driver select custom advanced install, under custom installation options uncheck all options except graphics driver & physx system software, if you have a 3D capable monitor and would like to use 3D at some point please select both 3D options, check mark perform clean install, then click next to install the driver, reboot when asked. Done.

Thank you.  Can I have a 970 and a 1070 in one system without using SLI?  Will all my monitors work?  Right now I have 2 970's, non-SLI, each driving 3 monitors.  It works well.   How is the video processing affected with a 970 and a 1070 in one system?  Has it been tested by EVGA?  My mohterboard is a z97.

    First question: Yes.
    Second question: Yep.
Third question: Depends on how you have the cards setup.
Forth question: Has what been tested by evga?

Sorry, i wasnt clear.  If one has a 970 driving 3 monitors (1 HDMI, 1 dvi, 1 dp to dvi connected) and a 1070 driving 3 other monitors (all 3 HDMI connected in surround mode) in their system, non-SLI, is there any issue with video processing or degradation for either of the video cards?  No overclocking, just out of the box is how the cards are setup.  Thanks,  MH.
