So, I order two 1080 ti, one a beast, I have not found its overclocking limit, it literally overclock to 2500ghz core and uses hardly any power, the other card won't run at 100 power target without freezing my system.
I had installed waterworks onto both cards, when I realised one was defective I refitted the reference cooling unit when to my horror I found that I had lost one small half of backplate which had the serial on it.

Long story short scan and evga refused my rma on a clearly defective card so I was forced to buy a third.

I now use the defective card as a dedicated physx card limited to 80 power target..

It looks like you hit both sides of the lottery,  it wouldn't hit the advertised speeds?

Sorry about that mate, but it is clearly stated in the terms and conditions that you have to send the card in the same condition it was when you got it out of the box. I understand it sucks to have lost a piece of backplate, but tbh it is also not EVGA's fault.

First, i highly doubt the one card runs at 2500mhz under load. If so, you have the best available golden card ever.

As for the backplate, you need to look for it. It has to be somewhere close by unless you threw parts away after putting the waterblocks on.

You didn't mention if this was a FE card.

If it is, you can just search EBay for 1080 TI Cooler, they're about $40 USD.

As for the serial # you can get it off the box or your invoice (stores usually print GPU serials on the receipt/invoice).

Edit: Apologies for any miss understanding and breaking forum rules.

Edited your post and sendimg you a pm why.

First and foremost, all users should keep their own backplate. The loss of the serial number attached to the backplate will be the reason for denied warranties. You need to keep your own backplate and that isnt a hidden clause anywhere.

I would like to see a screenshot of the benchmark of a card hitting 2.5Ghz.  The highest I've seen isn't even 2.2Ghz...

There is no way that card hit 2500 mhz, even if on LN2 at this point, sorry bud.

    Did you mean 2050?

I could see 2500, but ONLY if the card isnt under any sort of load. If they are in SLI, and kboost is being used, I could see it boosting that high with 0 load on it. The moment load hits it, I would think it freaks out and crashes.

I don't run it 24/7 at 2500 as there is no point, gpuz shows no performance reason, I know it sounds unbelievable but it's true, I have it running at 2100 currently due to sli limited.

The card auto boosts to 2000 with a target of 120 and no other change.

I threw the backplate away with the water block box by mistake.

Well, I guess I have an overpriced physx card now, all I need is games that support it.

I only really heavn bench tested it, so it prolly isn't game stable, but yes it did hit it, and it's pointless because the other cards are no where near as good so it's sli limited

You can use GPUShark and snap I image of it and post it showing that the card is running @ 2500MHz.
I will make you an offer.

Is there a chance you can retest and post the screenshots from GPU Shark?

May our framerates be high and our temperatures low.

is those insane overclocks stable in other things then gpu shark? As 2151 seems pretty impressive for the 1080ti

    @demon09
GPU Shark Only Shows what the Status of your GPUs are doing, they are not Running any Benchmark to show what I have Posted.
What you are seeing is a Folding WU or Task running one on each card. This is Primary use of the cards.
On BOINC GPU Task I keep them at 2138MHz
For BOINC GPUGRID I lock them down to 2025MHz

You're not allowed to replace the original piece and turn it in as a "original".  That would be a fraudulent claim for an RMA.  It has to be completely original, the way it came.
