I am about to buy EVGA G3 650W PSU. I heard that this model has loud fan issues on ECO mode, I mean PSU fan throttles to 100% which cause annoying and loud noise. Is there any owners of this model of PSU, would you suggest me to buy it for my rig or should I head to G2 -if it isn't have that problem- maybe even Corsair? And is it quiet I couldnt find noise graph of this PSU? Thank you.

I would go with EVGA SuperNOVA 650 P2, 80+ PLATINUM 650W over the G3 version. It's less expensive and has better efficiency.

    EVGA SuperNOVA 650 P2, 80+ PLATINUM 650W  ($99) 10 year warranty
    EVGA SuperNOVA 650 G3, 80 Plus Gold 650W ($102) 7yr warranty

    P2 (650w) is 15mm longer compared to G3 (650w)

I have ECO mode off on my EVGA SuperNOVA 750W P2, i can't hear the fan at all.

Thank you but there is a deal G3 ($89) cheaper than P2 ($99). Also I have never considered P2 because of G3 is the newest and compact model.

G3 is newer but it's still a 80+ gold rated power supply, while the P2 is 80+ Platinum rated. I would have no problems paying $10 more for P2 higher efficiency rating and better build quality. Are you planning on using a micro case?

Just wanted to give you something to think about.

I have the g3 850. and under heavy gaming load the fan will kick on in eco mode. When it does kick on it is pretty loud its almost like it kicks on to late and has to spin way up . it does not spin down tell its been on the desktop with no game running for a bit. I currently run it with eco mode off and it adds no noticeable notice to my computer unlike before with it on. If you grab it just leave eco mode off. the g3 gets some amazing specs when tested for a gold power supply http://www.jonnyguru.com/...op=Story3&reid=500 but if i could have grabed a p2 for 10$ more i would have. but depending how close to the watts you are running my 1080ti the fan will still kick on quite loud during gaming even with eco mode off and takes quite some time to turn off after gaming.(would spend the extra for the P2 850watt if i did it over)

I can't bear fan noise all the time since my rig whisper quiet. No need to huge overkill either. How many watts should I grab?

    Specs:
    Intel i5 4460
    Mobo: MSI H81M-P33
    RAM: 2x 4GB Corsair Vengeance

HDD: 1 TB 7200 RPM WD Blue
    (no liquid cooler)

I would buy a p2 then as the fan on it will stay off longer than the g3. Also if a bigger power supply is not much more then go for it as it. As it should keep the fans off even longer
