Heads up for EVGA, after owning both a 1080ti FTW, a Kingpin, and now a 1070ti, I don't notice any of the fan harmonics issues on the 1070ti.
 
Maybe switch back to that design next gen? ;D

And this is at the same RPM? I ask because the 1070 Ti, being a smaller die with a lower TDP, doesn't tax a cooler like the 1080 Ti does. I know this because I came from a 1080 to a 1080 Ti, and the cooling required to maintain the same temperature is much greater.

put that 1070ti cooler on a 1080ti and see the difference, my guess is its not going to give them same results

I think EVGA missed an opportunity not to have a 2.5 slot Ti. I like EVGA for it's customer service but after receiving my Ti, I'm disappointed in the performance. There's no reason to have a smaller heatsink, because of the heat generated by the Ti. I guess the niche group of people who have an iTX, or go SLI will have plenty of choices.

1070 ti and 1080 are very similar on stats and power consumption - the BIG difference is GDDR 5 vs GDDR 5x.
180 watt TDP on "base" models in either case.
 
 AFAIK there isn't ANY model of the 1080 with a TDP of 250 watts, though there is one MSI Armor model at 240 - and even pushing that card HARD it doesn't manage to actually PULL 240 at stock voltage, more like 220-225.
 
 I don't see any POINT to wasting a 2.5 slot cooler on either - I've been unable to get my EVGA SC 1070 ti cards up past about 65 PERIOD even when I was testing them at max TDP on about 65% fan (afterburner custom fan profile) and I don't remember anything but the Zotac Mini 1080 model getting much higher unless the ambient temp was HOT (95+ F).
 
 1080 ti on the other hand pulls almost 50% MORE power by default (250 watts on "base" models), a 2.5 slot cooler on THOSE makes a ton of sense for gaming or cards that are being pushed hard.
 

30% fan.
I can't remember the last time I had a card running at 30% fan.
 
 That seems very very LOW to me.
 
 Could be 'cause I hate letting cards get HOT and shortening their lifetime....
 

Who said anything about over 80% fan?
 
Most of my cards run in the 50-60% fan range, except on machines in my "computer room" in the summer where I have to bump a few of them up to 70-80% (depending on the card, the old R9 290 blower models always want more).
That's on a MUCH heavier load than gaming ever consistantly puts on a GPU, running various compute workloads.
 
 Aorus 1080 ti in my gaming machine is currently at 58% (and 58C, on my normal custom fan profile in Afterburner), but it's doing some cryptocoin mining in a room that is at about 84F right now while I do stuff other than gaming on the machine.
 
 

On multi-card rigs, it is a lot harder to come up with enough power connectors for the 2-connector 1070 ti models than the single 8-pin models.
 
 

There are quite a few 1070 ti models that have a single 8-pin power connector.
EVGA SC, ASUS Turbo (blower model), Zotac Mini, among others.
