Guess by the title of this post you can tell what I'm going to ask, I'm building a new rig which includes: msi Z170A xpower gaming titanium board, (2) Samsumg M.2 EVO 960 500gb., G.Skill Ripjaws DDR4-3000 & a host of other fine components. So my dilemma is this, in your expert opinion will It be better to wait for the ti over the 1080. And I should say that my current EVGA GTX 780 ti's in sli kpe edtion plays all current games in ultra settings in 1440p flawlessly..Thanks for any comments & enjoy

The 'expert' opinion is there has been nothing new regarding a GTX1080Ti in several months. The usual trajectory for rumored products is a gradual increase in number and veracity of reports. We are not seeing this here. In a nut shell, I wouldn't base your upgrade plans on a 1080Ti. We're in a somewhat similar boat. I'm good at 1440p for the most part but, I have a 4K display.   A 1080 would still be quite an upgrade from your SLI 780ti's and a much smoother gaming experience. I went from SLI OG TITAN to a single 980Ti.

Check this link out. Rumor of the 1080ti surfacing around the end of march. I would take this with a grain of salt. Nothing confirmed yet.

Why upgrade something you are happy with?

Supposedly someone from the MSI booth at CES 2017 was the source of the latest rumor. Mentioning it's going to be announced at PAX EAST that starts on March 10th. If that pans out, they say a March 20-23 release. I suspect the first batch will be the founders edition and then the aftermarket versions a few weeks later. The guesstimated launch price is not looking good, upwards of $800-$1000 MSRP. From my own speculation, it looks like the GTX 1080 is going to be even more popular once the Ti variant comes out. Unless they surprise us and drop HBM2 out for this new card, I don't really see the value.

You have 780Ti KPE as me?
Great. I love to see people with similar hardware.
I wait to see what will happen with Vega and NVIDIA but 99% I will buy GTX1080.

I typically skip a generation or two as well. The 10 series at the moment does not warrant an upgrade for me. I stuck with 680 classifieds for quite some (probably should still be running those beasts now), but he 6gb that the 980ti's have were the deciding factor. Until anything I play push the 6gb limit I will probably keep the 980ti classifieds.

Now, they come out with a nice shiny 16gb 1080ti classified hydro copper with wheels on it and a spinning disco ball, I'm in!
