System: Linux Mint 18.1 x64
Two EVGA nVidia Geforce GT740 graphics cards driving 4 Dell 24" monitors at 1900 X 1200 each. The monitors are arranged in an upside down T.

Hello -

I am an old research scientist fumbling my way through setting up the displays on my system (above). The first card feeds the two monitors that are one above the other (the vertical axis of the upside-down T). The other card feeds the two at either end of the horizontal leg.

The first card works fine. The display is extended across the two monitors. The second card acts as though it is not there. Yet, if I switch the cables, the second card is fully operational.

I have installed the nvidia driver 375.26. The nvidia X Server app indicates that I have both cards installed, and that each card is correctly connected to its respective monitors. The app shows the screens for the second card as Disabled.

Any guidance/direction would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you.

David

david I am not an expert linux user but this sounds like your display configuration is wrong.
perhaps you should post in linux forums. there are guys there that really know their stuff.

Thank you, duenor.  I had posted on the Linux forums too, but yours is the only reply I have had either there or here.  :-)  I agree that there is a problem with the configuration, but I don't know where to look (i.e., which piece of software) or what to modify.  :-)

Anyway, thanks for your suggestion.  :-)
