hello!! im working thru my very first pc build so bare with me. : )
ive installed the ftw 1070 hybrid and want to update to the newest bios. in the instructions on the dl page it tells me bios must be set to the one im trying to flash. my question is how do i change bios from primary to secondary in order to flash the new bios to the correct one?
ive downloaded the latest versions n just dont want to mess anything up. im not real experienced with bios flashing. : ) instruction seem simple enough just dont know how to select the bios. i assume its running on the primary now so that should be easy enough to do. but how to select the secondary to flash it once the primary has done its thing?
thanks in advance for your help!!!

Hi there.
I'm guessing you got your bios from here forums.evga.com/EVGA-GeForce-GTX-1070-BIOS-Update-v8604500070-m2565056 And that your card has the part number: 08G-P4-6278-KR As you said the update process is very easy - When you know how to do it at least :D
First I would download either GPU-Z, EVGA Precision X or MSI Afterburner. Either of those program are able to tell you which bios version version you're running - GPU-Z shows it in the main window, and in both Precision X and Afterburner you have to click on the Info button. Depending on where you bought your card/how old it is, the bios might already be updated, so please check first :)
The Bios switch is located on the card itself, and is a small switch located near the power-inputs :)
Edit: Can't post links.. :p

Only the 1070 ftw hybrid (08G-P4-6278) has two vbioses. If you have the regular 1070 hybrid (08G-P4-6178) it only has one vbios.

it is the ftw hybrid. i found the bios switch. i ran into trouble with it though. when i powered down the system and switched it to slave, then powered it back up. i got the mobo splash screen, then i got a multi colored checker board screen for a few seconds and then my monitor went into power save mode. i turned the system off and switched it back to primary and everything booted n worked as it should. i didnt try a second time with the slave yet. i was worried i had fried something!!! should i try the slave again and if i get the same resulting multi color checker board just try to power off the system and power it back on in hopes it works?

Sounds like the slave vbios may have a problem. Give it another shot.

im happy to report with the extra encouragement i tried it a second time. initially it did the same thing. multi colored checker board... then went to windows blue screen saying they were collecting some data and it restarted and BOOM! good to go. i successfully updated the slave bios! thanks for the help! another question concerning the multi bios.... is it typical to run on the slave or the primary. i have plans to overclock and im not sure if there is a better choice between the primary or slave bios... thanks for the info!!!
