Hello guys ! I just bought a new PC and went for an EVGA Z170 FTW motherboard. I built my rig myself and therefore I'm still a little anxious I did something wrong. I was wondering if the little "beeps song" (4 beeps, playing a little song, not like 4 same beeps in a row) at the start of the PC is normal for this board (It's the first time I buy EVGA). It's probably nothing as my computer seems to work fine... But I would feel like a terrible father if my Motherboard was trying to tell me something and I wouldn't understand ! Thanks for reassuring me !

That is the post codes. They alert you of a POST, and sometimes they won't make noise, and that usually means something failed. Like nowcontrol said, it is normal. You can turn that off in the bios, if I am not mistaken. I suggest leaving it on if you want to get into the bios. When you hear it, start tapping F2 to get into the BIOS :-)

Just a quick add, I found out something yesterday that isn't in any manuel. The number of beeps depends of the number of USB stuff you've got plugged to your MOBO. Can someone confirm that ? I've been booting my PC with only a Keyboard and a Mouse (with 2 Beeps), now I've added a Mic I've got 3 Beeps. Just tried to add something else (a Webcam), I had 4 Beeps. That's a lot of beeps ! :D

That is the way the PC beeps - in BIOS - you can kill it, or just keep PC On.

Hello Sebsokk, and welcome to the forums! I can confirm that the rapid beeps you hear are, as you surmised, related to the number of USB devices you have plugged in.
