I just put in my new 1080FTW card last night replacing an EVGA 770 4G. I have an Asus Z97 Saber-tooth Motherboard, with a I7-4770K cooled by a 100i CLC. And a Corsair 850W power supply. I don't have any OC enabled, running stock on my entire system. After about an hour of 4K game play (Star Citizen). My PC rebooted twice in 15 minutes. I downloaded the newest drivers and all my numbers looked pretty good. Played for about 30 or 40 minutes with no issue. 
 
This morning I played for maybe an hour or two and I got the same random reboot. I have enabled logging trying to find root cause. But I am curious if I should RMA it back to Newegg/EVGA. Anyone else seeing this issue?

Down checked the game to 1440, ran fine core temps were in the 40's the second I took it up to 4K Reboot.
 
I am thinking I am gong to have to RMA
 
 

Have you tried a more aggressive fan curve using EVGA Precision or MSI Afterburner?    I found the stock fan profile to really allow the card to heat up way to much.
I set mine to this:
 
0C to 30C = 10% to 15%
30C to 70C = 15% to 70%
70C to 85C = 70% to 100%
> 85C = 100%
 
With that fan curve I haven't seen either of my cards (SLI) get above 75C!    :)

Also on the note of a reboot..    it's possible it's a power supply problem though.     Especially if the reboot isn't showing a BSOD.   You can use the app below to check for BSOD issues.    BlueScreenView:  http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/blue_screen_view.html

That app requires you enable Small Memory Dumps though - http://blog.nirsoft.net/2010/07/27/how-to-configure-windows-to-create-minidump-files-on-bsod/
So might not show anything if you have full memory dumps enabled.
 
If you are getting a BSOD with a reboot, it will show up in BlueScreenView once you turned on Small Memory Dumps..    the error code can help figure out what's going on if your actually getting BSOD.
 
If your not getting a BSOD at all...    I'd lean more on power supply problem.     Even with a faulty GPU the system shouldn't just reboot like that.    I had a similar issue when I first got 2 x 980Ti cards my old 800W power supply couldn't keep up and would just randomly reboot due to the power supply getting very hot.    Does your power supply have very hot air coming out of it right after it restarts??
