I found a good solution that doesn't require having all the bloat of geforce experience.
I'll just link the guide from here.  I already tried this with my 1080sc.  I could make it brighter or lighter.  And turn it off completely.

Without clicking any reddit link, I am guessing you found the LED Visualizer, that is located in the driver since the 700 series at least, that also doesn't require GFE to be installed?

    Did I get it right?

Oh, it also controls the LED SLI Bridges.

We've been telling people to use LED Visualizer since September/October 2014 when the first led sli bridges came out. It's a great alternative to having bloatware since I comes installed in the driver.

Wish nvidia would just offer it stand alone instead of trying to make everyone use their bloatware.  Glad I found out how to do this.

Do you not understand?  You DO NOT need GeForce Experience.  LED Visualizer is BUILT DIRECTLY into the DRIVER.  You DO NOT need the Bloatware.  If you have an NVidia card, and nvidia drivers, you already have LED Visualizer.

Open your drive path, and follow steps 1-8 and then click LED Visualizer.  The GFE folders above are there so you can install them if you want, but they are not actively installed in the PC.

Ok didn't know you could copy them out of the drivers before installing.  I had it installed already and just copied from the installed location instead.

Use Precision X  OC, or Geforce Experience to turn off the lights.

Hi, WOW, THANK YOU for including the images, they really helped, because the CURRENT May 2018 drivers DO NOT include the LED Visualization.  Although I have the 397.64-desktip-win 10-64bit-international-whql.exe drivers installed (Driver Date 5/7/2018, Driver Version 24.21.13.9764), I HAD to go back to the folder Local Disk (C:) > NVIDIA > DisplayDriver > 368.81 to find the LED Visualizer. NONE of the drivers since then, that I have, including 376.19, 388.13, 388.43, 390.77 or the newest - 397.31 have it!!!  Your IMAGES really helped, even thought I don't have the 368.39, as you have shown in the location bar, I realized I HAD to find something in the driver group of 368.XX or earlier to find the LED Visualizer.  Again I really appreciate it. I have 2 ASUS ROG GeForce GTX 1080 cards that do have LED light choices, which I like to set to the card temp. I had 2 EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 FTW2 cards with ACX, where the EVGA Precision OC WOULD let me click on the LED tab and choose what colors and settings I wanted. That was a really GREAT feature, but I just did an EVGA "Step-Up" to on one of the two FTW (For the Win - I asked EVGA what that stood for), to the EVGA GeForce 1080 Ti SC.  Even with finding the LED Visualizer, UNFORTUNATELY on a $900.00 graphics card, it ONLY DISPLAYS WHITE.  At least with the LED Visualizer that YOU pointed out the location of, I am able to adjust the BRIGHTNESS, TURN IT OFF, or set "patterns" of animations to the WHITE LED.  Don't know why on a more expensive GPU from EVGA, they take away the RGB (Red, Green, Blue), and leave you with ONLY WHITE.  I USED to LOVE the pulsing settings I had in BLUE on the EVGA 1080 FTW2 GPU.  I have seen posts here and elsewhere that say the EVGA 1080 Ti SC comes ONLY in White or Green LED, I wish mine was the Green. The white is a bit too bland, and BEFORE I found the LED Visualizer that YOU pointed out the location of and the driver group of, I was NOT able to DIM the VERY BRIGHT WHITE LED on it.  THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!

Here's the better method direct download to the LED visualizer app from Nvidia.

Make sure you use the newest led visualizer version if you're using any driver higher than 390.65.

@capilot22, Welcome to the forums! You have to remember that this post is almost 2 years old, so the information may not always be accurate. About a year ago NVIDIA made the decision to remove it from the driver and offer it as a standalone program, as HeavyHemi posted.
