Just got my GTX 1080 FE yesterday. However over the past 24 hours I have noticed a couple times that the fan will make a grinding noise. Seems to happen when ever the fan is ramping down usually after I exit a game or something. Is anyone else with the GTX 1080 founders editions noticing the same thing? I've had reference blower coolers before like on my GTX 770 and 980 and I dont remember hearing them make this sound.

OK well hopefully it goes away... A quick google search brought up a older Overclockers.net post and someone on there suggested it could be the lubrication working its way through the bearings. So I am thinking it may go away on its own. I am thinking that having my PC two feet away from me isn't the best idea lol. My OCD is killing me. I really am a silient PC freak.

Nope I haven't had that issue either, might be an eventual RMA.

Hello,

I am sorry to hear that.

The fans may be slightly out of line. You can remove the card and place it fan side up on a wooden table or cardboard to avoid static discharge. Then, place light downward pressure onto the middle of the fan with your index finger and you should feel a bit of play.

This should re-align any bearings that may be causing this issue. If you continue to have the fan noise please let us know.

Well so far so good. I haven't heard the sound since applying downward pressure on the fan hub.

I started having the same problem with my EVGA GTX 1060 SC about an hour ago. Luckily I found this post, and was able to re-seat the fan as instructed!

Any tutorials on how to do this to the fan?

My 1070 has had this clicking sound for the past few weeks now, it's getting really annoying. Had the card since august.

Yeah, definitely the bearing I'm gonna try this when my drivers install coz mines making this sort of noise too.
It sometimes is there sometimes not.

I have an Evga 1080ti SC2 hybrid. On two occasions after i first got the card up and running i heard a very distinct clicking noise during benchmark. As soon as i would close the benchmark the noise would stop. And i would freak out and check everything and it would'nt do it again. Not sure if it was just air bubbles in the pump because its a hybrid but has'nt returned since. After reading this im thinking it might have been the regular fan on the card.

Does this really work? Sounds like a joke but I guess it's worth a shot. No good videos for pressing on your fans to realign bearings to fix noise. Let's go JAYZ!
