Update 2 - Truly top 1% as found here Extreme Test http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/12291087?  all I did was enable Kboost from the Precision application and boom, got another 560 points added to the score.

4K test http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/12291174? .  Ok now this one found the timing is off too.  Not sure why or how, but it too is top 1% now... and not two.

Still have no idea why it thinks timing is off on these scores...

In Overwatch, not overclocked at all, I was getting 200 FPS :P

[old data]
First... when I ran the 3dMark test... (top 5% woot!  Competing with quad titans)... they did not recognize the card. Yes, it is updated.  You would think a benchmarking tool that everyone uses would... recognize the card.  Did 4k and 1080 testing.  Card never got over 70 degrees and peaked at 1870mhz... and 1080p test was 64 degrees and 1865 mhz :D  No overclocking.

Secondly and probably the most disturbing.  One of the DPs stopped working.  No idea why.  I had to swap a monitor to another DP to get it working.  That might be one to look up.

Update.  I got my SLI Bridge off of newegg, and SLI'd these beasts together.  I had it all factory defaults.  And while it wasn't really Top 1%, it was just shy, so Top 2% is more accurate.

An update to Futuremark (3D Mark) might be required. If I were you I'd make a post to their forum.

As you can see, the curve barely goes up any.  Even though my score was 16099 on the Fire Strike Extreme test,

the highest score is 35275. http://www.3dmark.com/fs/7851707  This computer has EVGA GTX 980Ti KP QUAD SLI | X99 + 5960X KPC F1 DARK LN2 Cooled Mobo... etc etc.

The number 10 result of the same test http://www.3dmark.com/fs/6783272 has  a score of 28100 and 4 Titan Xs.

You can see what I am running.  I am very please with this card.  Imagine if I actually tried to overclock my CPU, RAM and 1080s....

Out of 25,748 Fire Strike Extreme Score Records using a i7-5960X and ANY number of GPU's,
Your Score (Shown Below) of 16,099 places you in position #3,976 (although it's still marked as NOT a Valid Score).

Also, Your Fire Strike Score (Shown Below) of 23553 is an erroneous result due to the graphics card not being recognized.

    BTW:
In the Futuremark Hall of Fame in Fire Strike Extreme, I am #6 (29182) and Sajin is #19 (27278) and Both of us got these scores with Titan X's in 4-way SLI.

When the Pascal Titan comes out, then we can look at everybody's numbers. Until then, it's just the 1080 out (brand new card).

    Yep, results bellow:

    Fire Strike Ultra:http://www.3dmark.com/fs/8520815

I would not buy a third 980GTX today, most games are not optimized for 3way SLI, with rare exceptions like Tomb Raider 2013, Project Cars, Crysis 3, The Witcher 3 etc...my third card has became a PhysX dedicated one. :(

And that is great that it does.  But with the position change from 5% to 1% adding only a second card...  I have no intention, but imagine 4 1080s... or just some overclocking and liquid cooling.

Like I said, everything was done stock.  Didn't change any settings.  And about the timing.. I have no idea what is up.  I just put my computer together, loaded up my games, and then ran the test.  On another test it says invalid video cards, while on another test it recognizes the video card.

The purpose of this post is not "I am the best", it is "These cards have great performance".  And I believe they do.

Honestly, I would love to see what a fully overclocked rig with 1080s looks like on the performance benchmarks.  I have no experience with overclocking... otherwise I would tweak some things.

I would like to see the 1080 overclocked too in its max, 2,1GHz is the current limit for this chip on air, unfortunately it may not be possible to overclock further due to its 1,25v vcore lock, I don´t know if programmers can unlock it this time, as they have made with Maxwell core, I hope something happen here to change this.

Also, for 3 or 4 1080s in SLI you´ll need a driver key and it won´t be using the new SLI HB bridges.

I gave up buying two 1080s and waterblock them because of bad overclocking room, that is a pitty, only hope to see GP102 better than this. :(

@OP, could test again in the future to see how the new HB SLI bridges impacts the performance?

    My machine is the best!

    Why? because it's mine!

I only care when my machine can no longer perform the tasks I want it to perform in a reasonable amount
of time at a decent frame rate.

other than that? it's all gravy.

Thank you for your words of wisdom.
My former computer could handle any task just fine.  4930k i7, 32GB DDR3 RAM, 780GTX 6GB VRAM.

I only build a new rig, when there is a significant jump in technology.  Could I have waited next year for the new intel architecture? Sure.  But then a year after that, new stuff comes about.  DDR4 got more stable and affordable, the new X99 FTWK mobo was very enticing with a 5960X i7... and the new 1080GTXs became icing on the cake.

So there is no need to go all condescending because I have a great computer once again after 4 years, and it happens to do very well against all the other computers that use 3dMark tests.

Plus it shows that the new video cards, plus SLI does improve the performance with the tests.

So sure, this post might be looked at as a "look at me " post, and maybe it is on some subconsious level.  But it is really showing that the new archetecture of these new cards, and how cost effective they are compared to Titans and 980ti that are running quad and watercooled.

OP, could you try these and gave us some info, specially with the overvoltage settings, please, maybe there is hope to see if the 1080s can overclock nicely:

    New MSI Afterburner:
    • Added GPU Boost 3.0 technology support for NVIDIA Pascal graphics cards:
      • Added percent based overvoltage support
      • Added voltage/frequency curve customization support. You may use traditional core clock slider on NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 and 1080 graphics cards to apply fixed offset to all voltage/frequency curve points as well as use brand new flexible voltage/frequency curve editor window for more precise per-point curve adjustment.
    • Added uP1816 voltage regulators support to provide compatibility with future custom design MSI graphics cards

@jeppouza I can try.  Like I said, I have zero experience in overclocking.  All I can do is try.. or start a campfire in my Cosmos II lol!

It will have to wait. In the process of moving and renovating.  PC will have to be disconnected until my treehouse gets recarpeted and painted starting tomorrow.  Tonight I have to pack.

    Thanks, man!
If those babies can get some voltage added, I will buy the 1080 and give it a nice EK waterblock, I just need this card to my 1440p Gsync panel for a single card solution.

And if eVGA would like me to test their HB Bridges.. I have no problem receiving "test" equipment.  :P

Updated with new score http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/12291087?  Top 1% on the Extreme test.

Like I said in OP... I have no idea why my score continues to be invalid because of timing issues.... the other tests it doesn't recognize my GPUs... but timing is fine...

Ok no more testing.  I found that even with the 4k test, I am in the 1% as well.  Kboost is boss.  And that isn't even "overclocking" is it?

Will be interesting to see these overclocked .... and watercooled.

Those 1080 scores are not what I expected. My score is 21,522 with (2)-980 KINGPINS no overclocks. My graphics score is 28,071 also stock clocks. These are Valid marks.
