At those prices ummm noooooo sorry as some one that needs that many cores and threads I do not need it that bad I will overpay. There is sensible then stupidity. Spending that much on tech that will devalue worse than a new car falls under you have gone full retard.

Yeah, i skip it ricky. Might try the AMD CPUs first.

Those who abuse power, are nothing but scumbags! The challenge of power is how to use it and not abuse it. The abuse of power that seems to create the most unhappiness is when a person uses personal power to get ahead without regards to the welfare of others, people are obsessed with it. You can take a nice person and turn them into a slob, into an insane being, craving power, destroying anything that stands in their way.

That is absolutely ludicrous. I think ill find a good deal on a 5960X, or a high core count Xeon instead. Over the 10 core that is.

Agreed i see maybe driving down the i5 at most the mainstream i7s the enthusiast line will be untouched. Feel similiar to their gpus, think polaris will compete on nvidia 1060 and below.

I would have to see how differently the two generations perform at the same tasks.  I have my 5820K clocked at 4.0 GHZ comfortably and I cannot see a sideways move to the 6800 a good choice.  I would go up to the next six core...but the prices are much higher than the haswell-E's.  Maybe I will look around for a 5830K...will have to see the comparisons before making any decision.

I picked up a 5930K for $499.99 at Microcenter back in January. That along with an X99 board and DDR4 coming from a Z87, 4770K. The old system was rock solid at 4.5GHz. This X99 system has been a disaster. Constant BSODs. I am thinking it is the CPU more than anything.

Luckily I bought it with my Discover and have 90 day return protection. I'm returning the 5930K for a full refund and upgrading to the 6850K which hopefully shouldn't be much more at Microcenter since they get the best CPU prices... hopefully it stabilizes my systems because I have barely gamed in 3 months because of this crap. Apparently they're supposed to release on the 30th of May? Have that day off, so I'll head and pick one up if so. The Turbo Boost 3.0 seems interesting if it works with manual overclocking.

Pretty much.  It's sad too since I'm an enthusiast, but neither Nvidia or Intel have competition in their enthusiast lineup.  I'm sure the 1080 would have been a much more powerful card if AMD had at least something to compete with it.

I'm curious, who are these CPUs marketed to? From a gaming stand point (at least for me) there's no reason to even go pass the 1st gen X79

    It's marketed towards enthusiasts.

Intel tries to force people off mid end cpus like my small 4790k by only giving it 16 out of 40 possible lanes, so if i want raid0 m.2 drives or pcie ssd drives and also having 2 gpu's running at 8x-16x pcie at the sometime i would need a 40 lane cpu. m.2/pcie ssds are about 5 times faster than sata3 ssds.

Well, Since the $600 6850K is still a 6/12 Core processor, I guess I'm staying with my 4930K (X79) system a little longer.

Come on Intel. It should be a 8/16 by now.

    The list should be:
       6800k- $434
       6900K- $617
       6950x- $1089

like I said we should be paying by the core count... $100 a core (with hyperthreads)

    then 10 core is 1K ...8 core is $800...6 core is 600 and 4 is $400
or better yet $75 a core

Unfortunately, we pay a premium for enthusiast hardware.  Intel doesn't have any competition at the enthusiast level (or the mainstream level, considering AMD can't beat a 6700K and probably won't for another... 10 years?), so we can expect prices to continue to climb when more cores are added.  It would be nice to see 6-core CPUs drop in price so that they become part of the mainstream lineup.  The more people that have 6-core CPUs, the more developers will consider developing games with more cores in mind.  6-core CPUs have been the same price since Sandy Bridge E.  Once again, I blame AMD for being such terrible competition.

I say before i7-6850K will be nice investment if someone need CPU.
Owners of Haswell-EX should wait next year Intel OPA Architecture and six channel DDR4, PCH Gen 3, 48 PCI-E lanes.
    I will upgrade graphic card now, 4.2 GHz i7-5820K is 3.9-4.0GHz i7-6850K.
From one side Intel offer me 10% upgrade and from other side NVIDIA 300% more graphic performance.

And than I have 18 months to play games and to think what is better for next upgrade, mATX and smaller PC Case or same size.

We can all thank AMD for being such terrible competition to Intel.  I'm sick of hearing "just wait until Zen."  Zen isn't here yet.  I doubt it'll compete with Intel's enthusiast line anyways.

We're also to blame, we all buy intel.
I build AMD cpu systems for friends but I always buy intel even though AMD processors crush any game tossed at them.

Just to out this out there.. AMD buys Intel cpu's as well... It's been shown in multiple of the releases that they used Intel cpus to get better performance. That is pretty embarrassing for the company.

Don't forget that Hyper-Threading was an AMD idea that Intel stole and got caught. AMD decided to sell the rights to it to Intel as part of the settlement. AMD has nobody to blame but themselves for their lack of performance over Intel.

Yes, consumers are to blame as well.  However, I doubt an enthusiast would sacrifice a few years of performance just to help AMD out.  That would essentially be charity.  As much as I laugh at the "Just wait until Zen!" statements I commonly see on the internet (because we'll be waiting a while for it, whereas Skylake has been out since last year), I really want to see AMD compete with Intel with mainstream users.  Folks who use single GPUs and only 1 PCI-E slot would be fine with an AMD CPU.

So much for the rumor of a release today. Nothing at any major retailer. A few really expensive listing on Amazon and eBay, but those may be "pre-orders." Hopefully tomorrow...

The leaked slides say that the embargo will be lifted at 11PM PDT, so expect to see Broadwell-E later tonight (hopefully).

Makes sense... Intel's press conference is 2 PM in Taiwan, which would be 2 AM EDT/11 PM PDT.

like I said we should be paying by the core count... $100 a core (with hyperthreads)

    then 10 core is 1K ...8 core is $800...6 core is 600 and 4 is $400
or better yet $75 a core

Just curious, how do the differing clock speeds and tdp factor into that plan?

X399 Designare EX, Threadripper 1950x, Overkill Water 560mm dual pass radiator. Heatkiller IV Block Dual 960 EVO 500gb Raid 0 bootable, Quad Channel 64gb DDR4 @ 2933/15-16-16-31, RTX 3090 FTW3 Ultra, Corsair RM850x, Tower 900

I just hope the new X99 mobos release simultaneously.  I'd like to order all of my parts in one run.

6800k, 6850k, and 6900k are on Amazon via scalpers.  The ones that actually ship and sell from Amazon at retail price should be available at 11PM PDT, so be ready if you're planning on buying.

6950X sold out within minutes it seems on Newegg.  6900K launched "out of stock" on Newegg.  The 6-core processors are available for those that want them on Newegg.
