The reviews for Broadwell-E are in and they're not very impressive:

I was personally interested in the 6900K, but it appears overclocking on Broadwell-E is much worse than Haswell-E, as the 14nm process makes for denser CPUs, thus harder to cool.

"But if you're an overclocker, the Core i7-5930K is a better alternative to the -6850K, and Intel's Core i7-5960X trumps the -6900K. At the same clock rates, Intel's Haswell-E generation is easier to cool." -Tomshardware

It seems like nobody has been able to push the 6900k or 6950k beyond 4.5GHz (most are barely above 4.0).  Even the 6850k is doing pretty poorly.  My 3930k is looking mighty fine in 2016 at 4.6GHz with 1.336V...

    Prices are insane.
I hope they will improve overclocking with Skylake-EX again.
Haswell-EX is solid overclocker and I hope at least same with Skylake-EX.

I wonder how long of a wait it'll be until Skylake-E.  If Broadwell-E overclocked better than Haswell-E, this would have been an easy buy for me.  If I could match my 3930k overclock on an 8-core without too high of a voltage increase, then I'd be satisfied.

So...........Intel wants me to spend $1723 for a 6960X that won't reach the 5GHz Overclock of my "Old" 5960X?

Looks like the 6850 is a better selection than the 6800.  Overall...nothing mindblowing about Broadwell-E

Big shocker right???? I mean we paid $130 per core on the 5960X, why not $170 per core for a 6960X? It's just a small difference in price

I just purchased the i7 6800k and I am not wondering if when I get it on Thursday will I need to return it and get a 5820k. I am upgrading my 7 year old pc. I have the asus x99-II mobo and thought this new cpu would be the best to start. I do a lot of gaming mainly but also stream and do video editing. What would be the best thing to do I dont want to mess up and I know getting a higher clock will be good. I will have a AIO Corsair H100i v2 cooler for it regardless of chip.

What do you think would be best to do as I dont want to upgrade anything for like 7 years or so ?????????????

You have to keep in mind, as they make the chip process smaller the components get more delicate and intricate. Meaning overclocks will not be as grand. Imagine trying to overclock a cell phone? Trying to get the gains we are accustomed to the thing would fry/burn up.
