I went to mount my hyper kit for the Intel 750 2.5 inch drive and the M.2 slot on the classified only has a screw hole for 2280. The hyper kit  is 2260. Has anyone found a remedy for this issue???

    +1

    M.2 -- Key M is --- 2280 --- ONLY

Maybe you can return your M.2 SSD or find a PCIe card to mount it to.

FYI: (why I purchased Intel PCIe 750 SSD)

    EVGA X99 Classified - M.2 (key M) is NOT 4X PCIE 3.0, but the slower 4X PCIe 2.0

M.2 drive using PCI-E 2.0 x2 only has a 25% potential speed increase over SATA III.

On other MBs --- M.2 gets exciting with PCI-E 2.0 x4 which rated maximum throughput of 2.0 GB/s.

That is a hair less than 3X the throughput of SATA III.

You'd need three SATA III SSD drives in RAID 0 to get the same potential performance of a single M.2 PCI-E 2.0 x4 drive!

The x99 classified only has a 2280 slot bracket.  A way around this may be purchasing a PCI slot adapter, so that you can use it in place of the on board built in m.2. This is the Asus Hyper Kit and allows the Intel 750 NVME kit to work through the M.2 slot, but it is only 2260 format, not the 2280. This device shows that it is compatible, and must be enabled, in the ASUS Bios for ASUS motherboards.  It may not be bully compatible physically or through the bios of the x99 Classified.

You may need something like this to populate the PCI lane, since the 2260 is not going to fit, or be enabled (note: Asus requires the Hyper kit to be enabled) through the EVGA Bios.  The "Hyper Kit" looks to be proprietary to ASUS.

The above response is my best guess.. Dual/Single top D5 would be a waterpump, but he clearly has not proof read his own message when he copied and pasted something in the middle of his message.

Thanks for clearing a few things up but I thought he was talking about water cooling pump tops and M.2.  The OP was all over the map so I figured a clearer post would do us a good service and not a guessing game.

I found an adapter for the PCIe x4 slot in my Asus X99 Deluxe box but no luck. Drive may have died. Reason I didn't buy the PCIe model is on the x99 Deluxe, with two 980Ti Hydrocoppers in SLI no slots available for the PCIe type. I love most EVGA products and other than a cheap Asus laptop things like GPU's and PSU in my rig are EVGA but I have to admit, even though Asus CS sucks and my RMA turn around time is terrible, the Deluxe has so many more features than the Classy. I had an X58Classy for about 4-5 years waiting for a true performance jump (I'm not rich, retired) and the x99 platform had it. Not the minimal 10% power or speed gains and minor new tech changes. This Classy at release was the same price as the Asus so I took the chance and it was trouble free for 1 and 1/2 years. On the other hand, one of my 980 Ti's had overheating problems in 4-5 months and the refurb I got spit fire out near the power connections after 3 days. Doesn't matter who's making it, it seems. I'm having a horrible run of bad luck with all mfg. now. I overnighted a new hyperkit and the Classy still won't recognize it so I'm betting it's going in for RMA also. Not a good two weeks for me!.
