Greetings,   Specs below.  Not sure where to post this.   PhysX, SLI, when changing modes, Dark Screen, Unresponsive.

I have three benqs set up to race on 4 titan blacks signature oc's on display ports. on lower pci slots.
The forth monitor is on top pci slot DVI-D
4x SLI works fine with benqs but for some reason only 60htz. now. Same set up was 144htz. in win 7 ultimate (secondary issue)

When it is time to go back to work and I turn off the SLI and turn on the forth monitor (asus) while turning off (disabling) the benq's the screen goes black.  No response from keyboard... nothing and I let it sit one night to see if it would recover.  The only solution is a hard shut down.

THEN..  I get my one screen back and all is well BUT to go back to play and enable SLI again one of my screens is missing and cannot be found by OS thus not enabled for SLI.  The only solution has been to clean re-install nVidia drivers.

The cycle starts again when I want to play and put it back into SLI mode.  Then it artifacts on the three screens, unresponsive, then hard reboot.. Works.    It seems any changes to nVidia control panel regarding screens just make Bad Santa mad.

It all was working great until..  I did a new installation of win 10 pro, not upgrade.  The only other change was using the M.2 SSD as the boot drive.  I had the M.2 drive up and running (non os drive) in Win 7 pro for a few months to test the system.

Nope you did make a change "The only other change was using the M.2 SSD as the boot drive." this is what is causing your problems with 4 GPUs install on your X99 Classified MB. You can only use 3-Way or 3 Graphics Cards installed if you use your M.2 SSD Slot.
Disable PE6 and run 3-Way SLI and retest. Use the 3-Way SLI Bridge that came with your motherboard to test with.
Also I have been having issues with iCloud and SLI.

I was hoping this would not be the issue, but it makes sense with the X99 Classy setup and the M.2/PCI stuff.   If I had it to do over I would have not purchased the 4th card and instead purchased a PCI based SSD and stuck with 3 way.   My only doubt is that it did work with Window 7.    I guess the difference is the OS is now on the PCI lanes and not on SATA.  Is this your exact point?

Will test and report. Thank you.

Re: Win 10 new prob 4x Titan Blacks hard reboot needed to change in/out sli Sunday, March 13, 2016 3:43 AM (permalink)
SOLVED. But now what?

Well I removed the 4th GPU and reinstalled nVidia.  Cannot find my 3 way bar, of course.  But it did go into 2 way wiith the 4 way bar and back and forth in/out of SLI physX.    No problems.   >THANK YOU<

SO here are the big questions:  Is the M.2 speed (reduced on the classy) worth it or is the 4th GPU and go back to a SATA SSD?
OR
I also wonder if I can just use the SATA SSD I have and utilize my upgrade and just dual boot.   This would simplify my life anyway as I hate re configuring everything, much more simple to boot for game mode to dedicated screens or boot for work mode to dedicated screens.    I am just thinking this through.

Any Thoughts?

Yes it worked in win 7, but win 7 was on a SATA drive not the M.2.
