Doing my first pc build after catching the PC bug from my Alienware X51. I really love pc gaming and wanna do a proper build. I will be carrying over my EVGA gtx 970 reference card, 16gb of hyperX fury ram, and my i7 4770. The power supply I want to get is the EVGA G2 750w. Best price I've seen on one is $102 with no tax and free shipping which beats newegg who charges tax and shipping where I live.

I have found a EVGA GQ 750 for $79, and I have a 15% off code on top of that. I know it isn't fully modular like the G2 I wanted, but the only cable u can't disxonnect is the 24 pin which I will need anyway. Johnnyguru gave the GQ a 9.2 so I know its a good power supply, but is the G2 really gonna be worth the extra $$ compared to what I can get the GQ for?

As long as you buy a quality PSU and it gives you about 20% more power than you need - you are good to go.

You should seriously consider any potential upgrades you may make in the next year or two also.

As far as looks, would depend on if your case has a window, where you place the PC, and what matters to you.

Power consumption can be minimized by buying PSU with a better rating (bronze, gold, platinum)

    Enjoy your new build

So....the GQ or the G2? Potential upgrades are that I will at some point have a 980ti and go to a 4790k cpu for over clocking. May do SLI 970s. A 750w should be fine for all of that. Just need to know if the G2 is worth the extra $ over the GQ with that %15 off.

G2 has twice as long warranty, bigger fan

Both are 80 Plus Gold, single rail 62 A

    Warranty wins in my book!
