How many rumormills are assuming Zen APUs will be discussed when the 7th Gen is only about Bristol Ridge, i.e 28nm Excavator APUs for desktops, just because it will also use AM4 sockets? The Zen APUs out next spring will be the 8th gen.

Xavier Zepherious AMD announces Computex 2016 Press Conference and Webcast, promises ‘Polaris Updates’ The official press release only mentions ‘launch of 7th generation of AMD APUs’ and.. ‘Polaris Updates‘. SUNNYVALE, CA — (Marketwired) — 05/19/16 — AMD (NASDAQ: AMD) today announced it will hold a press conference and live webcast during Computex 2016 in Taipei, Taiwan. The event will begin on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at 10:00 AM CST / 10:00 PM EDT. http://videocardz.com/60185/amd-to-showcase-latest-technology-during-computex-2016-press-conference-and-webcast
Looks like AMD wants to put in some good press for new items in an attempt to steal a little bit of thunder away from NVIDIA.

definitely not competing with top end 10 series would be a match for 1060ti with comparable power usage isn't 1060ti 5.5TF's and like 150 watt

http://wccftech.com/radeon-rx-480-msrp-199/ they undercut their original price point and probably making less profit - lower margin just to maybe cut into Nvidia 1060 sales - but at what cost? lower margins is lower profits when they are LOSING money??? and we don't know how it overclocks? and Nvidia has better Software support

$199 each! They are looking to take back market shares with that price. For under $800 I can put four of these in quadfire and use less power then about 2 of my R9 290s. I think AMD may have a winner on their hands, lets hope they don't go mess things up.

Considering a single 1080 outperformes xfire 480s you are going to need all 4.

Pretty much. AMD won't take back much of the market share by selling low-end cards (yes, these are low-end since the 970 and 980 are retired, so comparing to cards from 2014 is a little sad). The 970 was the most successful card of Maxwell and it sold for over $300. The $200 range is not what drives the market.

RX 480 might be a solid upgrade path for me from my 580 Classified, $199 is a killer price on it. Though I was thinking the big AMD cards are coming later this year?

I thought the numbers were 1080= faster than two 980s. 1070= faster than a Titan So wouldn't two RX480s be right under a single 1080, and three should be a bit faster for 600 bucks.

and someone is praying crossfire scales well and doesn't hit cpu bottleneck as was pointed out in AMD own bench they put out during AMD's computex debut and like i said earlier dx12 has implicit and explicit modes for MGPU meaning only 2 way... even in CF ....only 2 cards are supported in implicit mode (from the GPU maker) and explict (3 and 4 way or more) is put solely on the game developer to do and that's what the game developers wanted And please do not get the $199 cards as they will be 4GB and you will kick yourself when you have memory bottlenecks later on pay the extra $50 for the 8GB heck you be at $500 buck cost for the 2... you might as well get the 1070 and smoke the dual AMD's wasn't some of the 1080 prices lower than the FE?

yeah scaling and game development do play a large role, I guess the 8gig 200 something dollar version is the sweet spot for most gamers. The new Nvidia stuff is priced just right too. (Personally I don't want anything new unless its rocking 8+gigs of HBM2 in SLI/crossfire.)
